Making the trade for watson and sticking with the rest of the offense we currently have

or

sign Winston/combo of obj/Landry and use the 18 pick on an o lineman?

I have no sources on any of the above happening, just bored at work for this last hour and playing out hypotheticals with a coworker

If we stay with Winston I want to trade for an impact offensive player.

San Francisco might go rebuild with Lance and maybe we can get Kittle or Hockenson from Detroit.

option 1 gives us a legit shot at a championship

option 2 maybe 9-10 wins

Had 5 wins without MT, Landry/OBJ, and a swiss cheese line in front (esp Carolina game). Why would you think he's only get another 4-5 games w/ an extra 10 chances...using OP's hypothetical

I just wasn't too impressed with what I saw in JW reclamation project, I'm even less enthused about its chances without Payton around.

the market for his services is also kind of telling.

That's a fair point, was just wondering why you expected such a drop off if he actually gets to play with some weapons.

There could be a number of reasons why the market has been quiet for him: past performance, knee injury, the number he's demanding, wants to step in and compete to start, the fact that he said he wants to stay with NOLA and wait on Watson, no faith in him reigning in the turnovers w/o sacrificing the deep ball strength...

Based on what's available (assuming Watson is gone), I think he's the teams best shot to win. Whether or not he is capable of winning a SB will count on 3 factors" defense staying healthy, limiting the stupid TOs (they will happen, but avoid the dumb ones is key), and protecting him upfront.

He can't control the defense health. He had a few dumb throws, but for fewer than he did in TB. And he was doing a decent job navigating the o-line and working with what he had in front of him.

Would really have to look at the schedule, my larger point was this team has a ceiling with JW at QB. Not even really a negative comment towards him, just a reality of the league now.

I’m still hoping we land Watson, but I won’t be upset if we don’t. We just cleared a ton of space to go after a top tier WR2 and a tight end or WR3 in free agency. All while maintaining our defense and draft capital.

I’m increasingly optimistic about 22/23 even if it is with Winston..
