Would Reggie Bush be a HOFer if he wasn't drafted by the Saints?

Discuss what Reggie's NFL career would have been like in an alternate world where he went No.1 to the Texans or the Saints passed him up and drafted someone else. Obviously he has all the tools to be a all-time great.

Do you remember how terrible the Texans were back then?

If Sean couldnt get the best out of Reggie...how many coaches do you think could considering what Sean did with Pierre, Ivory, Kamara, Khiry, and Sproles

Reggie did not have the size or durability to put up anything close to HoF numbers.

The Saints were contenders during his time in New Orleans. It's not like he languished on the Browns or Lions.

No definitely would not have been a HOFer. I believe a lot of people don’t really remember how good he was though..... they just remember he didn’t live up to the massive hype. He was pretty damn good.

Better question is - would Drew Brees be a hall of famer if he had went to Miami instead of the Saints and Sean Payton

Thats never ever been discussed

I think the saints were a great fit for him. We have always had a creative offense who gets the ball to its playmakers. He just wasnt a brusier and couldnt pound it so this was one of the best fits to him.

There’s no team and no need/situation in which Reggie Bush would ever have been a HOFer. The Saints utilized him perfectly. Reggie’s skillset was unique and Payton was better than anyone in utilizing his strengths. I’ll always love Reggie but a HOFer he would never have been.

I wonder if Reggie would have had a better career as a WR instead of a RB.

Now that’s an interesting question to consider.

No, but he probably would have opened a steakhouse in LA reliving his college glory days after 2 seasons in the NFL instead of winning a superbowl.

Reggie was too ahead of his time. His role was created out of thin air by Payton and he was the first running back to be used like that.

Put Reggie in the league now and his career is viewed much differently.

Reggie brought more than football skills to New Orleans and was rewarded well with a ring.

no i think sean got pretty much all you were going to get out of reggie

he ran for more yards when he got to miami and detroit but he wasn't used in a way that maximized his talent and impact

nah

there were plenty of receiving tailbacks before reggie. guys like brian westbrook, charlie garner, marshall faulk etc. westbrook and garner are probably good comps because those two offenses were in line with what payton brought to new orleans. he has a lot of overlap with gruden and andy reid because they all generally coached under the same peope coming up

Bush was a tremendous talent, and he was an important part of the Saints’ run (He made some big plays at crucial times, Eg,vs the Cards in playoffs and in theplayoff game vs Chicago, even though we lost because of an ineffective game plan in the second half.) He also had somebig time gems during the regular season with punt returns and crucial
first downs, as well as TD’s).

Whether he would have put up bigger numbers elsewhere, it’s possible, but who
Knows? I love what he did here, even though his stats weren’t mind boggling.
