The Saints took over with 7 seconds left at the end of regulation and had a great play call. Bush was free in the flat and had room to run.

0:07 in regulation - Brees targets Reggie but his pass is knocked down at the line (thanks a lot Mina Brees - if you weren't too busy hatching schemes to blackmail small businesses out of their money you could have force-fed young Drew milk and broccoli and he'd have grown 3 inches making this a non-issue.)

Above: Exhibit 1A

Notice in the photo below (Exhibit 1.B.) that Reginald "Reggie" Bush, the intended receiver, had no defender within at least 7 yards of him. It is save to assume that the speedy Bush could have maneuvered out of bounds at no worse than the Vikings 40 yard line, setting up a 57 yard game-winning field goal attempt by diehard 'Dashboard Confessional' fan Garret Hartley.

Above: Exhibit 1B - Bush with nothing but green in front of him.

So does Hartley make a 55-57 yarder with :02 left to win in regulation? What say you?

interesting. I think that ball he kicked for the game winner looked like it had 55-57 in it.

Doubt it, that's streching it. The closer in, the more his psyche makes it easier.

IF he kicked it the same. As soon as he made it (or sometime after watching the replay) I said he would've made it from 60. That thing landed so high up in the net.

He has such a strange kicking motion.

I first noticed it on the GW field goal. His follow through is so quick and short. Most kickers (like 99.9% of kickers I've ever seen) have this long, deliberate follow through.

Garrett just kind of does a quick chip motion and then lands on his left foot immediately. It's really different.

It had to be within 18 inches of dead center. I think it could have made from 60 at least!

i posted yesterday that i watched hartley in pregame warmups. he finished both sets (one with the ball holder, one with a snapper and brunell) with the ball at midfield, so 60 yarders.
he drilled them, the ball was at the top of the goalposts when they crossed.
he did the same pregame vs arizona

yikes didn't notice he was that open....

I guess you could argue, what if he misses that FG then where's his psyche on the OT kick?

His OT kick was good from at least 55 though

I don't think Reggie would have been able to get out of bounds before the clock stopped.

How many kickoffs did Hartley kick out of the back of the end zone? Several. That leads me to believe that he could make one from 70+ given perfect conditions and no one trying to block it.

Welcome to the bandwaggon

I'm going to say zero. This is based on the fact that Morstead kicks-off...
