re: Would Carr be a starter any where else?

Carr could get run with the Giants, Raiders, Titans and Browns. You know, the worst teams in the league
I think Carr would be a good fit on the Jets with the right head coach.
And Andy Dalton was getting run on the Panthers just a few weeks ago after Young was benched.
We can thank Dennis Allen for resurrecting his career. Fans were pissed Dalton was hurt and couldn’t play against us. And they still beat us.

Goff was playing like crap and they wanted to get rid of him and not be stuck with the extension he just signed. Gave up a first to just get rid of him. And they won the superbowl right after they got rid of him.
This is all fact.
Doesn’t remotely address what I’m talking about but facts
And of course coaching and drafting well matters. Carr teams never had a good draft, or coach, or team in your eyes? I’m just asking to sniff any modicum of sustained success.

And yet in a league where the qb position is the most valuable commodity
You can’t knight Carr and believe this in the same breath. That’s my point!
quote:
the Browns couldn’t give him away. Think he went for a 5th.
And Carolina just outright waived him in the middle of the year. Rams had no interest in bringing him back.
Mayfield played out his 5th year option and was a going to be a FA. Browns got Watson, Rams had Stafford still, Carolina had 1.1., Mayfield wanted to start still.
Everything is never going to be perfect. Be a leader, overcome obstacles, grind out some wins

When would you say that Matt stafford became a good qb?
At Detroit: 74-90-1
At LAR: 34-23
By your reasoning, he became a good qb age 33 bc he won nothing at Detroit. It's almost like having a good HC and team around him mattered.

This exactly what matters. Barry Sanders and Megatron both retired because Detroit was a shite organization.

Probably when he hung 5k and 40 TDs early on in his career or maybe it was his multiple finishes near the top of major passing statistics
Please don’t do this

Stafford at Detroit...
89.9 rating
7.2 yds/att
4.5 td%
2.3 int%
.448 winning
Carr at raiders...
91.8 rating
7.1 yds/att
4.4 td%
2.0 int%
.443 winning
These 2 are very, very similar

The NFL has some really bad starting QBs, lol. I’m sure he could start at least a few places.

Their overall stats are similar, almost identical. Carr is equal to Stafford then?
Of course hits A contender went after Stafford bc they knew the peak. Carr never sniffed elite territory. Stafford was projectable and had the intangibles to boot.
Best Rating season
Stafford 106
Carr 101.4
Best QBR
Stafford 71.3
Carr 64.3
Best Y/A
Stafford 8.6
Carr 7.9
Best AY/A
Stafford 9.12
Carr 8.2
Best Td%
Stafford 6.5 (3 seasons of 6+)
Carr 5.6
Best INT %
Stafford 1.7
Carr 1.1
Best YPG
Stafford 314.9
Carr 282.6
Ya all Carr needs is his McVay

You realize that almost all of stafford's peaks there were in 2019, which he played 8 games in, right?
Posted on 1/7/25 at 8:32 pm to msstate7
And Stafford threw 1,266 more passes than Carr in your sample. You chose the ratio stats?
Throw out Stafford’s 2019 if you must and run the exercise again, it doesn’t really matter

I used per pass stats to throw out volume. You used season totals, and then used a season that wasn't full to compare to full. Just seems more cherry picking on your part

Carr can still hang in there and compete but he’s limited and no one wants him as their future. At this point he’s just a placeholder. He would do well as a backup on a really good.

Repeat after me smoothbrain: CARR IS NOT THE PROBLEM.
Bro, I really like Carr, and agreed with signing him.
But in 2023 he was injured and knocked out of 3 games.
Now in 2024 he was injured and missed 7 full games.
The injuries yave been everywhere. Every man has a shelf life.
I dont think we should pay Carr and hope he can stay healthy at this point.

I like Carr, but I don't think we should restructure. If it's possible to get under cap letting him walk, we should do it

He was the starter in Cleveland, performed poorly and like I said they couldn’t give him away. They were trading him before they secured Watson. And then for a 5th rounder. Teams pay 3rd rounders for decent backup QBs. (Bridgewater)
He was cut during the season in Carolina, way before the draft. After being benched not once but twice. Way before Carolina gave up the house to move up for #1.

Carr is a phony.

Carr had a qb rating of over 100 and he would make a good backup huh lol.
Hes not an upper tier qb, but his rating was higher than Mahomes this year. Got some idiots on this board.

when the game is on the line, I'll take Mahomes every time. You have lost your god damn mind using a QB rating here.

Not taking up for Carr but have the Raiders been a good franchise the last 20 years. Did they get better once he left? Checks notes, they just fired their coach today after one year. One year. Totally functional franchise.
Dennis Allen was his head coach the last two years with us. Don’t think anything else needs to be said or elaborate on that shite show.
You like to keep bringing up Goff.
Does Goff have the better
Oline? Yes by a lot
Running backs? Yes, probably two better
Receivers? Yes, not even close.
Tight end? Yes, by far, was the best te in the league last year
Offensive coaching? Let’s see, his OC is the hottest head coaching candidate the last two years.
Defensive coaching? Lions were a top 7 defense this year even with a shite load of injuries.
But I don’t know why it’s so hard to see why Carr isn’t performing similar to Goff….
Total mystery

Well no shite I’m also taking Mahomes. I’m just saying statistically, Carr had the better year. But he should be a backup?
