It is important to not miss first round picks. So maybe the Saints felt like the OT was the safer and valued pick eventhough it was less of a need.

A lot of saints fans are dumb. People are actually saying we should've picked Tre White over Lattimore. Another one is we should've reached on a pass rusher instead of drafting a position that we use now and will really need next year.

I don't it is dumb fans. More like not fans at all. There's been nearly as much Rant influx as on game days. Purposeful trolling and shite stirring. Now for dumb... "Can someone tell me how good the Jax O-line is?"

Of those 4 Willis easily. I would have been happy with a reach for him at 32 (though am not at all upset with replacing a 34 year old Strief).

Him or Bashem at 42 are my preferred picks.

Not against McDowell but we have "too many" big bodies as is. We need speed rush.

with a window that is damn near completely shut in terms of what we have left with Drew, we don't have the luxury of going "safe"...

He was recruited at DE coming out of HS but had to play every gap and even nose tackle because he was their only good player on the DL.

His get off at DE is damn good and he has the power and flexibility to bend the edge. He's my #1 DL because I project Garrett at OLB/edge instead of being a true DE at 5 tech and wider. That being said, he can easily slide inside and destroy gaps (or centers)

McDowell looks like a better version of Cam Jordan. He can speed rush.

I think from a talent perspective, all are graded in the 1st round.

Why eye roll? If you don't agree then say it. This is a discussion board. I want to hear what you have to say.

and this pick does nothing to help with "depth"... this guy is being drafted for 1 reason and 1 reason only... to replace Strief, which does need to be done at some point, but i don't think that it needs to be done THIS year... unless you are already a contender, you don't use your 1st round pick for "depth

What in the actual frick did I just read?

That's what people don't get about that pick. We would be going RT in the first round next year if we didn't this year.

Which is fine if it means improving the defense this year.

Look, I like McD more than most people on here and would be fine with him.

But to say he is a better version of Cam who has proven himself to be a pretty elite DE...jesus man. Just dumb.

And Cam was a very, very highly thought of prospect and a 1st round lock.

It's pretty simple. You are camped out waiting for your pick at 32. Suddenly 6 of the 7 preceding picks are all defense, but Foster is still there and you don't see Seattle taking him. Then the 9ers blow you up and you have 10 minutes to pivot.

You can go edge rusher but it would be a reach here. Most of those guys will still be there at 43. Same can be said for other needs like corner and ilb. You can try to trade back, but there is literally no time to find a partner who won't ream you for your desperation. What do you do? You have 10 minutes to react. Tick, tock...

What other needs do you have? Tackle. The number one rated lineman is still on the board. It ends up being the smart, safe move. You can still get your edge rusher at 43.

Fans won't like it because they don't understand Jack shite about how dynamic the draft is and how teams really scout, but the Saints got cock blocked by the 9ers and made the absolute best out of it.

I'm comparing them coming out of college. Both were damn solid against the run and had questions about their pass rushing ability. Malik had to play all over the line and that stunted his growth.

Malik is a better athlete, bigger, and has better pass rushing traits. He looks better, to me, than Cam Jordan did coming out of college and I think it's a fair comparison. I also think Taco Charlton is a good comparison but I don't think Taco is as good as Cam was.

If it wasn't for people saying Malik quit on his team (he was injured), is lazy (he's not), and his bad interviews he would've been in the first round.

In the end, i don't care if we get Malik as long as we get Willis. I sure as hell hope none of our divisional rivals get him though.

Why draft a 300 lb interior d lineman when we are deep there? Rankins, Jordan, Fairley, Davison, Onyemata...

That pick doesn't make sense for us at 32 or 43.
