wow, we have some awesome fans, not wanting to renew season tickets because of the teams performance, which is a mediocre 7-7? I swear, judging by posts on this board, you'd think we were 3-11. Leave, I don't want you to renew, you fricking fairweather prick.

I admire Saints fans who spend money and time following the New Orleans Saints. For those who have done so for any significant span of time since 1967 (say, for 10 years), then I have special admiration for them.
That said, I fully understand the legions of once-loyal Saints fans who have given up, and who absolutely refuse to spend one further nickel on their Saints fandom, to include buying tickets or Saints gear.
I take great offense at anybody who says that the New Orleans Saints fans are bad fans. The facts of history clearly demonstrate that the relatively small city of New Orleans poured its dollars and hearts out in support for this NFL franchise FROM THE VERY BEGINNING. From the very beginning, New Orleans Sainst fans proved themselves to be second to NONE in the NFL in support for this "team." The attendance figures since 1967 prove it.
That said, I understand why people would stop spending their dollars and time following this franchise. The facts are there: two playoff wins in 41 years. This is a Dismal Record of Failure.
I know that some people believe that spending money on the Saints is wasted money. I have a very difficult time trying to think of reasons why they might be wrong about this.

you stop spending money and New Orleans gets booted out of the very small fraternity of 32 cities that are lucky enough to have an NFL franchise.
I have never understood why people will only support a team if they are winning. If you love a team you support them no matter what.

agreed
this is a very important revenue source for the city and the state

Agreed, what makes winning so sweet, is to remember the times you had to sit through the bad. Good example, the 2003 national title game for LSU, I know a good bit of people who cried after that, I almost did.

The Chicago Cubs haven't won a World Series in 100 fricking years. Do you think their fans just jump ship and say frick it. frick this team. Hell no. That is their team. Same with the Redsox. We are talking more than twice as long as the Saints have been in existence.
The struggles will make it that much sweeter if we ever are fortunate enough to get over this mediocore hump. Tickets to watch the Saints have to be in the bottom 5 in the league of overall pricing. Hell yeah, I'm keeping my tickets. And don't worry, if you don't want to renew they have plenty of Saints fans who would love to scoop up your seats.

Exactly. After living through the lean years of Tiger football, reaching the top was something I'll never forget in my life time.

Try harder to understand why a guy who makes under 50K a year with a wife and kids might stop spending his money and time on a NFL franchise that has won two playoff games in 41 years.
Imagine this: you are 20 years old in 1967. You take a second job (part time on weekends to deliver bread for Binder's Bakery) so that you can afford to buy four season tickets for the New Orleans Saints football team.
Now fast forward to 2008. You are now SIXTY-TWO YEARS OLD. You have purchased four season tickets all of these years. The Saints have won a Grand Total of only TWO playoff games since you were a young man of TWENTY and first started pouring your dollars and your heart into this team.
Question: If you decide to cancel your season tickets because not even your Grandchildren care to attend games with you, and because, well, at 62 you need to save your money: Does this make you a fair-weather fan?
You tell me.

was that necessary to post it twice? Sounds like to me you are just getting old and that's the reason you are cancelling the tickets, not the failures of the team, if that was the case, you would have done it long ago.

After these past 2 suck seasons. Plus lack of offseason moves not coming?
So many of y'all are like a bunch of teenage girls with your emotional irrationality.
This year's disappointment has 3 main culprits, injuries (not much you can do about that), short yardage offense (needs to be addressed), and kicking (FO tried to replace Grammatica but drafting a kicker didn't work out). Hopefully we'll be healthier and Hartley will continue working out next year. That leaves the short yardage and I think that's more on the OLine than Payton's play calling. You think he wouldn't call a run up the gut if he thought it'd work?
I don't think I've ever been more optimistic about "next year". Coming from 3 - 13 in just 3 years the team has rebuilt itself so that it's only has a few glaring holes and most of those should be filled in the offseason.

and there it is the, the million dollar question. People seem to find the money if they winning.
If you can't afford tickets then you can't but don't bitch about not being able to afford them when they lose but you can suddenly fit it in your budget when they win.

I posted twice by accident.
With regard to the rest of your misguided and poorly contemplated words, you missed the point.
You directed your post to me personally. It's not about me. I was not talking about ME. I was talking about fandom and team support in general.
If you can't discuss ideas without personalizing everything, then you are simply an emotional person with poor reasoning abilities.
