Which is not it to say there are not serious problems in New Orleans, there are but some of let your petty political views cloud your judgment.

the long term economic outlook of the region and population will determine if the franchise is viable in the city those do not hinge on current headlines but long term trends.

I do not think this has been a factor in the city losing some of these bids. They have been losing to teams getting new stadiums and early on the league refused to have cities with traditionally bad weather host games. That has changed and added to the longer time frame between hosting.

However, when they have the next SB in NOLA in 2 years; if the City/State does not do something to protect the event; you can be assured it will be the last SB in NOLA. For those talking about what may happen when Gayle passes, league rules require her to have a succession plan in place (renewed annually) and at least 1 party to that plan must be able to own at least 30% on their own ($1.1B based on team's worth of $3.6B)

Regarding OP, I think you will still see teams packing the dome to start this season. But, if it turns into a shite year again, you will finally start seeing empty seats come Nov/Dec. IMO, it will take a few years for the team/league to really feel the pressure from fan support because there is always "something" to get excited about at the beginning of the year. Also have to remember, this team was filling the dome regularly even before the Mora era

You blame the saints for a nutless coach"retiring" while trading away almost every draft, putting the team way over the cap and then after 2 frickING weeks "rejuvenating his passion" for coaching?

Well Like most things I think that the answers are multi-layered.

1) Lets start with an aging fan base. The people that actually buy the tickets were Joe Publix and he would get 4-6 seats and take the kids, family or friends. Now the kids are grown, they are older and it is harder for them to get to the games.

2) The people coming along now do not have the same interest. Some may like football and some may like the Saints but they are not engaged enough to buy season tickets.

3) The event becomes more important than the game. Numerous people come down to the Dome area to hang out, tailgate and drink and do not go inside. This seems nuts, but they do.

4) Obviously Price plays a role. People are trying to keep up with rising mortgages, cars and kids in Private school. Increased prices have made tickets more of a luxury items. Tickets, $20-25 to park, something to eat and gas.

Now I will say that I have had season tickets for several years now. I lived 6 hours away for 6 of those years when I started buying. Now I am almost 2 hours away. So I have never made all the home games and as I age and have had more health issues I have not been to a game in two years.

I have continued to buy season tickets 1) Just in case I do want to go to a big game and 2) because up until right about now I have actually made money on the tickets. This year will be interesting because their does not seem to be that big money game to get me almost half the way there with what I paid.

In the past, I have gotten 3-4 times what I have paid for the Dallas, Pittsburgh, Green Bay and even NY Giants tickets. The last few years even Atlanta and Tampa have pretty much been even or losses.
