Achilles can often be the end of a career (or at the very least a career altering injury; the recovery rate is worse than most knee injuries).
At this point we have to move on and then around summer check in and see how Okafor is coming along. He hasn't had enough time to recover and pass a physical at this point.

Okafor is so risky. Has a significant injury history, coming off Achilles, last year was first time playing full time snaps in a contract year. Should get paid a lot because shallow pool of good pass rush options.
Richardson is just a little older at 28 and a much more proven, consistent talent. Makes sense to me as an alternative to Oak.

I’d actually be in all for this.
I’m a firm believer in winning changes players and going from watching Josh McCown and Bilal Powell barely scrap by week to week to score points (let alone win games) to Brees and our boys would motivate anyone.
