Vick was never that much of a legit throw option

compared to a fricking running back? jesus

Are you saying we should trade Brees for someone like D. McNabb just because they have an added run option?

Where do you get this from?

how does it go from me thinking Vick would be a nice change of pace for 5-10 plays a game to me thinking we should totally replace Drew Brees full time with a running QB?

This has nothing to do with Drew Brees. ZERO. NADA. I don't know where that comes from.

It has nothing to do with Brees mobility.

It has everything to do with the lack of run game.

Vick, being there as a backup, would be lagniappe if Brees got hurt(god forbid).

and the added wildcat formation only takes away touches where he might do something great.

Do something great? like hand the ball off? fricking awesome.

Like I said earlier, and see if you can follow this...

On a predetermined running play, why would it matter if Drew Brees or Michael Vick were behind center? think about it.

Brees, like any QB that has ever played, has no use once the ball is handed off. He cannont do anything great. He cannot win a ball game. He isnt being ignored. He just becomes irrelevant because he is not going to touch the ball on that play. So in a sense he is already out of the game.

Its not like he is no-huddling and doesn't know what kind of play we are going to run by the time he gets to the line.

I know what you are saying, but Vick was a very physical QB. He could have 3 to 4 more years of playing, if he could not get hit like he was.

I don't think Goodell reinstates him this year. He still has 2 more months of home confinement, has to undergo physiological evaluations and has lied numerous times to Goodell and Arther Blank about his involvement. Then, and only then, can he truly get into football shape. I don't see him on the field this year.

I really do not think he has lost a step. shite, the time off may have worked in his favor. His best asset is obviously his running ability, and you do not forget how to run and find a hole.

all RB's, and....

Deuce and Alexander- serious knee injuries. Deuce, 2 serious knee injuries.

Alexander's case, numerous 300 carry seasons. Pounding after pounding.

Tomlinson, 300 carry seasons out the wazoo. which led to continuous knicks and bruises.

There will be an obvious lack of football speed that he needs to get used to again. This may only take a couple of months. If he stayed in shape, then yes, he probably hasn't lost much. I don't think the time off worked in his favor. He could have been getting better at the game of football for those two years.

I agree with all of this. My point was age is age. 30 years old is not 22. Vick took a pounding, not like LT and nor does he have the injuries.....but Vick at 27 and Vick at 30...especially not being in football...there has to be some drop off...has to be damnit!!!!

last time vick played in the nfl he rushed for 1,039 yards on 123 attempts.. 8.4 avg.
he was good for 65 yards rushing a game on only 7-8 attempts a game.

he could be a very effective 5-10 play a game guy for any franchise.. but i still hope to see him as a starting qb somewhere.

they take the ball out of his hands every time they run the ball. So whats the difference if its Vick or Reggie Bush or Pierre Thomas?

Valid point.

The other reason I didnt list is, is it really worth the ridiculous media coverage we would get for a backup QB or a QB who takes 5 snaps per game??

If we had Vick, I can't envision us having a really successful season and thinking we couldn't have done the exact same thing without Mike Vick.
