Sean Payton hates Louisiana.

It is pretty odd when you think about it. HOmestate pro football player factory right up the road and the Saints don't even want 1 player from the school. Wonder what is going to happen next season if they wind up with the first pick of the 2017 draft (could easily happen considering the cap situation and the continued decline of what little talent remains on the team). Do they pass on Fournette?

I don't see it coming to that but I'd definitely hope we wouldn't take a running back with the 1st pick

It's a small scrappy school. It's really in the middle of nowhere. A lot of the players just don't work out. I think we'd rather draft players from more established programs.

You see this is why this board is in the crapper because of butthole statements like this.

Never mind the draft and slotting players and 31 other teams picking players no...sh!theads think we "don't want" LSU players.

If LSU loses this year its your fault and everyone should hunt you down

well 31 other teams also have the draft and slotting players also yet still wind up with LSU players on their rosters. The school is just up the road. Seems like they might take an interest

53 man rosters, 100+ colleges, handful of draft picks to use.

Think of the odds that a specific LSU player will land to your team, while also meeting your need

Odell - went well before cooks
Peterson - very early first round pick before the Saints
Tyrann - honestly, he needed to get away from here
Hill - Payton liked hill, but he went before he could grab him
Mett - what would've been the purpose?
Landry - love the guy, but they had already drafted Cooks

Can go on and on with this shite

What would have been the purpose of drafting Mett? Seriously?

What was the purpose when we drafted noodle arm Sean Canfield? In 2013 we signed noodle arm Ryan Griffin... what was the purpose of that? We just drafted Grayson as a potential replacement for Brees. You honestly feel as though he has better pro potential than Mett? I'm not saying he's not a good prospect, i just find it odd that you glance over Mett with the "purpose" comment. By all accounts he can compete in the league.

Do I think Grayson has higher upside than Mett? Yes I do

Unless something drastic changes with the NFL a RB will never again be the clear cut #1 overall pick.

Schools w number of players in NFL, # of players on Saints roster

Miami: 61 - 1 (Philips)
Bama: 59 - 2 (Ingram, Sunseri-IR)
Florida: 58 - 0
LSU: 56 - 1 (Breaux - technicality)
FSU: 55 - 1 (Williams - IR)
USC: 53 - 0
Georgia: 53 - 4 (Ellerbe, Jenkns, Swann & Watson)
Texas: 47 - 1 (Vacarro)
Clemson: 47 - 3 (Anthony, Barnes, Spiller)
OSU: 47 - 0

The bigger questions is, why do they like Georgia & Clemson so much???

A major factor in why they don't have a lot of players from these larger schools is the small school impact on this team. 18 of 53 players (34%), and another 12 when you add IR & PS players (41%).

Coincidentally, our roster sucks.
