I guess this is made up. All a part of the big conspiracy.

"We acknowledge that the violations disclosed by the NFL during their investigation of our club happened under our watch. We take full responsibility," they said.

quote:

"Instead of getting caught up in it, I should have stopped it," Williams, now a defensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams, said in a statement quoted by the New Orleans Times-Picayune newspaper. "I take full responsibility for my role. I am truly sorry. I have learned a hard lesson, and I guarantee that I will never participate in or allow this kind of activity to happen again."

quote:

Saints owner Tom Benson said Monday the team cooperated with investigation and called the findings "troubling." In their statement, Payton and Loomis said they were sorry for the "undue hardship" the violations had caused Benson, "who had nothing to do with this activity."

quote:

Saints Head Coach Sean Payton and General Manager Mickey Loomis said they take "full responsibility" for the practice, which they said "happened under our watch."

"These are serious violations, and we understand the negative impact it has had on our game," Loomis and Payton said in a statement issued Tuesday evening.

Neither your opinion nor opposing opinions about the severity of the punishments is invalid. The thing to be pissed about right now is the NFL's delay in announcing suspensions. They know who they want to suspend and for how long, but they delay until after the draft. This means the NFL knows that the Saints CAN NOT know what their actual draft needs are. The problem here is that it sets the team up for failure for multiple seasons, not just the upcoming one.

Couple this with what many people feel are over-zealous punishments and you can see how it can feel a bit like vendetta instead of discipline.

Not for the bounty system alone. The lying, and cover up so that it could continue bought those harsh penalties on. That was pretty obvious.

This is such bs.

Were the Saints the only team that was told to stop the bounties?

Even though there have been multiple teams quoted on having the same systems that the Saints allegedly had in place, only the Saints got hit with penalties.

And please, show me some evidence that proves that the Saints paid for injury.

era: I didn't realize who this troll was. This thread should be anchored.

i hate goodell long before.. the bounty system had no impact on my hatred towards him as a commish. he is an absolute joke and soon enough the NFL will not even resemble itself if he keeps on with the BS.

Further evidence to support my contention that the penalties were more for lying, cover-up, and continued bounty program.

TulaneLSU

Either this is you or your frickin twin brother. Either way, since the admins never ever delete or anchor any of your posts i have to believe either you are an admins alter and some kind of sick joke or you are blackmailing them. And since i honestly dont believe the admins would willing try to troll this entire board as often as you do, you must have some amazing blackmail material on them. Either way, you suck. No one cares that you dont like the Saints, stop posting on a Saints message board you inconsiderate jackass. We get that you dont agree with our opinions and you back Goodell 100% and you think we are all blind homers, do you walk into bars and ask everyone why they are drinking and tell them alcohol is stupid and they should all be sober no matter what? To sum up: You suck go away.

That is all.

Goodell simply has too much control....PERIOD. Not only does he make the punishment too severe, he waits too long to address player suspensions too. NO single man should have that much power....he's just holding the Saints over a barrel..

If it were the Pats, Cowboys, Giants, Jets, or any other BIG TV audience, I think it would be handled differently.

True to a point.

But Goodell with many owners behind him is changing the NFL. Not just Saint fans have complained about this or booed the hell out of Goodell whenever he appears. He gets booed when he is at the draft and even giving the trophy at the S.B..

Saints had a bounty system in place

No. Thats Goodell's term and I hate him for it. He and the NFL have gone out of their way to keep this story in the news and hang a scarlet B around our necks.

I and many others around the county didn't like him before and it ain't got no better as of late.

PS
He also screwed my draft day saturday fun with this thur-fri crap.

I am as big a Saints fan as they come. But come on people. You are displacing the anger. Saints had a bounty system in place. They were repeatedly told to stop. They not only did not stop it, but continued to lie about it and make sure it was covered up nicely. With that being said, the Saints go 12-4 this year and beat Ravens in the Super Bowl 34-22.

Sure the Saints needed to be punished. Goddell just took it to a Nazi level of reprisal. The punishment he handed out is just plain personally vindictive! The guy just has this flaming a-hole personality that makes it so easy to hate on him. I wonder if his mother even likes him.

I'll tell you why I hate the MF. Greg Wiliams coached at numerous teams before the Saints. I do not see any investigations at any other team but the saints. Goodhell decided to take out all his wrath on the Saints because he did not want to look in to any of his marquis teams. It was a no brainer for him to take out the Saints.
