8-8 7-9...brees went to a 3-13 saints team. Was he supposed to have them winning 10+ games every year from the get go? And what QB doesnt have bad turnovers during losses and when you're the pats saints or colts every loss is inexplicable because you will be favored over 95% of the time. You would think Rodgers didn't play like shite last year losing 6 games?...shite happens

ESPN is the Tebow network right now. Before that, they were the Rodgers network. They're firm believers in overkill, mainly pandering to the big markets.
this...

ESPN does not hate the Saints or Louisiana. They love money and pandering to the huge mega-markets bring in the cash.

I do believe that if Brees were 4 inches taller, he would have fewer interceptions...that is just a fact, not a condemnation. I can only imagine how absurdly high his completion % would be in the above scenario. I also think that in the near future..all QB's will have to offer a run threat. Brees, Manning and Brady do not have that.

Because he plays in New Orleans. Here are the QB numbers of Brady, Brees and Rodgers over last several years, starting from when Brees signed with the Saints in 2006:

Brees: 59-33-0 2405 for 3556 67.6% 27286 187 TD 90 INT

Brady: 63-15-0 1747 for 2658 65.7% 20982 171 TD 48 INT

Rodgers: 40-20-0 1334 for 2033 65.6% 16783 126 TD 37 INT

P. Manning (for fun): 61-19-0 1913 for 2877 66.5% 21639 155 TD 68 TD

E. Manning (for fun): 55-38-0 1846 for 3067 60.2% 21946 151 TD 99 INT

I was a bit stunned to see how many INT's Brees has thrown over the years. However, Drew has about 6,000 yards on his nearest competitor and 16 TD over Tom Brady. He also leads in completion percentage.

I guess what everyone else sees when comparing QB's are Tom Brady and Peyton Manning's dominance over the AFC as well as their geographic locations to the northeast media hubs.

Sean Payton is a big reason why. You likely could take 2/3 of the current NFL starters and he'd get them over 4000 yds in our system. Brees was basically Matt Hasselback in terms of respect, and Payton has maximized his potential.

This isn't a knock on Brees, as he has become one of the best.

The one thing that Brees excels at is his presnap intelligence and ability to progress in his drop and get the ball away quickly. He does all this despite being 6' tall and having a second baseman's arm.

Another thing that doesn't ever get noticed are his eyes. He plays defenses like a fiddle with his ability to bait safeties and then turn and deliver an accurate pass within a second.

He has amazing accuracy. I'd say he's the best at locating the ball. He's got nearly a 70% completion percentage and is a whole percentage point (or two) above the other 3 elite Qb's.

Sean's system isn't built on getting people wide open; it's built on getting good matchups. Often times, Brees has to put the ball in a very small window, and he can do it.

Payton's system probably wouldn't be as effective without a guy like Drew.

I've noticed this more throughout the years. As defenses have adapted to what the Saints are trying to do, he's had to manipulate the defense to give the best matchup room for a completion. This and his pocket awareness and pocket mobility truly make him Great.

He is a very accurate passer, but I've seen Eli Manning throw better balls than Drew, especially deep balls.

Here's where the difference is: Eli is very accurate with long outs and deep balls, while most often times Drew is off and the receivers need to make a play. Meachem's TD the other week was an adjustment to the ball, as was Colston's touchdown against Tennessee a great catch by Colston.

However, when it comes to short passes in traffic, there is no one better than Drew Brees in finding the spot where only his guy can find the ball. All those little short passes to Lance Moore and Jimmy Graham are great examples.

Also, Drew's completion percentage has to be helped by the fact that the Saints throw many short passes with high probability, but it still takes execution.
