horse shite! they use the Katrina story to the point of patronizing the state. Katrina happened. its over. Move on. The only ones still bringing it up are people trying to pity the state or losers making excuses

sounds like someone has an inferiority complex.

And its comical if you guys think ESPN "hates" the Saints or La. Sorry they are not as pro Saints as you'd like, that's called bias.

We were "Americas Team" that year. I don't buy the "Media/ESPN hates the Saints" argument.

The Media beat a fricking dead horse on that because they wanted the Nation to pitty New Orleans/Louisiana. It had nothing to do with "liking" the saints. Espn will always be pro east coast teams because most of the teams reside in blue states, and Louisiana is a red state

Its no big deal. You get the #3 pick from the Victoria's Secret catalouge, she's still hot.
It always seems like the same girl is #3 regardless of who rotates into the catalogue, though.

However, this is the first time I've heard justification as to why Bress isn't deserving of #1-2.
quote:

He turns the ball over more than Brady, Manning and Rodgers.
All of the other talk has been justifying #1-2, and saying oh yeah, Bress is great. He's #3.
He's got all of the positives Manning and Rodgers have (1 SB ring each), yet doesn't get into the 1-2 with Brady.

I'll take a look at his Int comparison and report back.

I'm not saying that it's not about ratings. But don't act like because they were bringing up Katrina for the last 6 fricking years that it's because they have respect for La. They don't! Dumbass

Oh, you're one of them. Yes - ESPN hates louisiana and the saints and drew brees because Louisiana votes predominately Republican.

Yep - that's it.

If the Saints were sitting at 13-0, you would have your fill of NOLA coverage. Fact.

Brees 5363 Att 143 Ints % 2.67 52 Fumbles

Brady 5206 Att 114 Ints % 2.19 56 Fumbles

Rodgers 2049 Att 38 Int % 1.85 22 Fumbles

Manning 7210 Att 198 Int % 2.75 37 Fumbles

Manning is the only 1 with a higher Int % but he has far fewer fumbles, so like I said, Brees turns the ball over more.

Brady's high for Ints in 1 season is 14, Brees has thrown more than that 6 times.

Again its no big deal

Yeah, 2 things that I think hurts Brees & separates Rodgers are:

1. Rodgers takes real good care of the ball. His career TD to INT ratio is 3.3 to 1.

2. He's mobile. Not talking about in the pocket, Brees has great pocket presence, but Rodgers brings a real scrambling threat. His career rushing yards & TDs are impressive.

ETA: Rodgers also is 5 year younger, which gives him even more time to improve. If that's possible.

I would have to say that right now, Drew is the 2nd best right now behind Rogers. It's close, but no one is playin as good as Rogers right now.

Absolutely Brees is above Brady right now.

1) Brady - he's #1 because he's got multiple SB rings and almost every season he's been in the league he's thrown out ridiculous stats.

DUDE Brady hasn't won a playoff game since what 200andfricking 7?

Brees last playoff run in 09 was as flawless as it gets. No interceptions and an MVP SB trophy. Brees is breaking a new historic QB stat every single season since he joined the Saints in 2006.

Brees owns Brady h2h. Bad.. as well as Manning.

You gonna give me a choice of Brady or Brees for one BIG TIME game.. give me Brees HANDS DOWN.

Yet he takes nearly double the number of sacks and Brady, Manning, and Brees.

Here's what I got for the 2006-2011 seasons:

Brees leads in attempts, completions, completion %, yards, yards per game, and interceptions.
Rodgers leads in yards/attempt and rating.
Brady leads in TDs.
Manning leads in Sack rate.

Stats of note:
Rodgers (37 sacks/yr) gets sacked twice as much as the other 3, Manning 15, Brees 19, Brady 22.
Brady/Rodgers have about 50 fewer attempts/yr than Manning/Brees.
Brady/Rodgers about 1% behind Manning and 2% behind Brees (68%) in completion percentage.
Brady/Rodgers about 200yds/yr behind Manning and 400yds/yr behind Brees (4550).
Rodgers (8.4) gets about 0.7 yards per attempt more than the other 3, tied at 7.7-ish.
Brady (34) about 3TDs per year more than other 3, tied at 31.
Brees (298) gets about 30yds/game more than the other 3, avg around 273.
Brady/Rodgers (104.5) about 7% better passer rating than Manning and Brees.
Brady/Rodgers (9.4) throw about 5 fewer interceptions per year than Manning and Brees.

Conclusions:
Brady & Rodgers are nearly identical.
Manning & Brees are nearly identical.

Only a few stats deviate from the rest:
Brees' comp % & yds/game. Brady's TDs. Rodgers ypa, sacks, & rating.

The ratings seem to favor efficiency the most: yds/completion & fewer interceptions.

I'd take any one of these four. They all seem to be awesome. It's hard to really say which one is the "Best".

Another thing against Brees, though I hate this the Saints were 8-8 and 7-9 in 07 and 08. He's also had bad turnovers in some inexplicable loses (Cleve and Az last year, St L and TB this year).

Exactly. Listing guys at that level is basically meaningless. Brady and Manning will get the nod based on career. Rodgers this year based on unreal season. All are Canton bound, all have SB rings. You can pick first.

Because he is 6 feet tall and plays in a small media market. That is why.

Seriously.

They cannot say he is the best because he does not fit the script. Manning, Brady, and Rogers do. But, when Brees is on, no one is better. We know that. Who cares what they think?

Yes the Saints have been known to drop games they should clearly win, but on the same token Brees has been a BEAST against Elite teams. I'll take a guy who brings it against top quality in prime time games.

How much of this was due to a poor running game or defense? 28th in rushing both years. 26th in defense in both years.

I think Brees and Manning have more pressure on them to get a lead b/c their defenses are designed to play from the lead. The colts with their pass rush and undersized back 7. The Saints with the oppotunistic secondary.

Rodgers has benefited greatly from having a good defense. And until recently, Brady could say the same thing.
