This board is melodramatic and overrates individual signings on a yearly basis thinking they are the missing piece/key/vital to whether the Saints make it to the Super Bowl or not. Saints basically made it to the Super Bowl last year (discounting the botched no-call) with Ben Watson.

Would he improve the team? Yes. Is his signing vital to the Saints' success? No.

Mark Ingram was 5th in the NFL in rushing in 2017. Are you telling me he is the 5th best RB in the league?

Look, there are several reasons some guys do not have 900 yds receiving ever year.

Brate+ Howard share snaps. McDonald shares snaps with Jesse James

Engram has was more upside that Cook, is more versatile, better receiver, more explosive.

Njoku had bad QB play but really came on last year with Mayfield. His arrow is pointing up

Graham last 3 years. 177-2079-18 tds

Cook last 3 years 152-1961-9 TD

Jimmy Graham over jared cook?
No, graham is a beat up 31 or 32

Cook is an in shape gazelle of a 31 year old.

I’m done arguing with naysayers in real life or on message boards. This is a big pickup and I for one am so thrilled to have him. Kudos to Loomis Ireland and Peyton and rest of front office that beat out New England for Cooks.

I willl just leave this here and be done with it. Thanks for listening.

Cook is a big upgrade for us. I just think he is more of a top 15ish TE than a top 5 or whatever you are trying to perpetuate

No one is taking McDonald over Cook. Brate is debatable. Graham debatable, and while Reed is better with his injury history I'd take Cook. And I think Cook is better than Njoku right now but he has better potential.

Alot of what Lester earl writes is debatable.

He had to go back 3 years to make a point.

I said cook is better than graham now, hence graham being beat up and a shell of himself

Looked it up just for you
PFF jimmy-#48 ranking
Cook-#9 ranking

I like how you’ll only use three years at the marker

What do you want me to use Ed?

You think 1 yr is a good sample size like chalky?

Cook is definitely an upgrade that the Saints could benefit from, but anybody thinking Jared Cook is going to revolutionize our offense should temper their expectations.

Let’s take him for what he is.

PROS
He’s a versatile receiver, and a great combination of size and speed. I could see Sean Payton lining him up all over the field to create those mismatches. Do you put a slower LB on him? A smaller CB? He could easily be put in positions to succeed in the Saints offense. He’s seems to have some power with the ball in his hands.

CONS
I think it’s already understood, but you aren’t signing him to block. That’s okay, as long as you understand his strengths and weaknesses before hand, but one dimensional in that regard.
Even as a pass catcher he has had his inconsistencies. He is known for having trouble with drops. Just last year he had 9 drops.

I’m interested to see what his contract looks like. Two years ago, he signed a 2 year 10.5 million dollar deal with the Raiders. If it’s worth anything more than 6 to 7 million dollars a year for multiple years, I won’t be a fan.
I could see him being a productive fan favorite because of his skill set, but if he comes in with a huge contract he will have huge expectations that will be tough to fulfill.

For how a player is trending yes I do.
It doesn't matter what he did 3 years ago when we are talking about ag3 and mileage being factors.

So your saying what Jimmy Graham did 3 years ago will help him next year when he is 33 or 34
