guess it depends who is available and their worth/value

we need to dump all these vets ASAP as well but mickey ruined us from doing that years back.

but yeah i am all for getting as many picks as possible.

but will mickey screw it up again? draft wise? The clown cannot be trusted.

and WITF are we trading picks for players right now? why? we should not have given up any picks for anybody this year.

If Mickey is still running the show I just hope we take the closest thing to a highly touted can’t miss guy that is available regardless of position.

I don’t think this is going to be a particularly quick fix so we will likely have top 10 picks for a few seasons.

I continue to hope that he steps aside and we hire a national firm to bring in a younger guy who is in alignment with KM as GM.

Can’t really answer without more info

Seems likely we will need a QB unless Shough surprises us..and it’s not often that you end up in the top 5. So if we need a QB and they like one, I can’t see us trading out

We haven’t had a top 8 pick since 2006

as long as we get a better return than when we had the first overall pick in 1967

Saints receive:
QB Gary Cuozzo - 4 year backup to Unitas who lost starting job to Billy Kilmer and was out after one season in New Orleans
G Butch Allison - played one season for Saints before going to CFL
17th round pick - LB Billy Bob Stewart - cut in training camp

Colts receive:
C Bill Curry - 2x all-pro for Colts and started both super bowls for them
1st overall pick - DT Bubba Smith 3x all-pro for colts and started both super bowls for them
3rd round pick - OL Norman Davis - played ST for Colts in 1967 and Saints in 1969

In a draft with 8 future Hall of Famers, the Saints ended up with 3 guys who were all off the team by 1968

The problem is you need a trade partner that is actually willing to give up assets for where you’re picking. And in this year’s draft I’m not sure there are many guys at the top that teams will think are worthy of leveraging their future for.

So I both agree and disagree with this

Disagree in: everyone is assuming that this QB group is no longer highly regarded just because they aren’t putting up big college numbers…if you look at recent history, that doesn’t hold up. A lot of guys who were “unproductive” have been drafted highly based on traits or because the NFL didn’t hold their situations against them. I think that will be the case for this class too. Nuss, Allar, Sellers and likely 1-2 others will still be first rounders. And we know QBs have a value that doesn’t always match reality in the draft.

Agree in: the 2027 draft is looking like one of the best of all time overall (not really Qb) to some evaluators. This likely will contribute to some teams being less likely to trade future assets and move up in 2026.

Long way to go. There isn’t a guy that people are going Gaga for like Luck or Lawrence. But we see those don’t always become the sure fire HoF level guys.

Yeah, we stockpile then trade them away for a guard to play center, or an average WR that cant stay healthy for a full season. Or for a dynamic Pass rusher who cant stay health for a season, Or for another dynamic pass rusher that cant stay healthy for a full season with mental problems who many not care to play football.

Stock Pile.
Thumbs up

We need impact players. Take Rueben Bain Jr., or Keldric Faulk. Or take the best WR available. Then take the best WR, DT or IOL in the second round. We need a pass rusher, a true #1 WR, an OG, a CB and a DT.

Not saying we don’t need a QB, but prime Brady or Brees couldn’t win with this group.

And whatever we’ve been doing in the scouting and drafting department needs to be revamped bigly!!!
