I’m by no means an expert and in Jeff Ireland I trust but I’d really like to see the following: WR, CB, RB and G.

The draft is especially WR heavy this year but there’s not a ton of CB depth. Can find some extremely good RBs in the mid rounds and Guards as well.

Just some random guys that I would really like:

Henry Ruggs is a legit 4.2 guy that could be lethal in the slot and finally allow us to move on from Ginn. Kids a burner with outstanding hands. Poor run blocker but great outside of that. Would probably have to take him in the first. Someone like Justin Jefferson or Tee Higgins would be great but Ruggs style will complement MT much better imo. I don’t think Lamb or Jeudy will be available.

Kristian Fulton is very much like Tre White in his hype. No one talks about him but he’s a legit lockdown corner with all the tools to be a star, again would have to take him in the first

JK Dobbins, Travis Etienne, Najee Harris, Clyde Edwards Helaire are the best backs in the draft to me. I know about Jonathan Taylor but honestly I think we could land Najee Harris in the 3rd round and I’d love to pair that big bruiser with AK. I think he or Dobbins will end up being the best back out of this class.

At guard there are several guys but Damien Lewis is being under valued imo and he will likely be available in the 4th or 5th round. He has struggled slightly against elite pass rushers (Derrick Brown) but he’s a solid player that would plug and play in Peats spot if we move on. Creed Humphrey would be solid too but he’s a center and frnskly I think we’d have to take him in the top 2 rounds while Lewis would provide a high value in the 4th or 5th

If we were to move back, I'd look at a team like Indy who has 9 picks this draft.

They have washington's 2nd round which would be pick 34 and their own 2nd round (pick 44)

Trade 1st (24th) for washington's 2 (34) + indy's 3 (75).

Likelihood is we know this team loves to trade up, pair both 3rd rounders (75+88) to move back up into the 2nd round with another team like seattle who has 2 2nds as well.

Essentially:
2 2nd round picks, knock it out like the 2016 draft with vonn bell and michael thomas and you have 2 quality starters.

As long as our target doesn't fall into our laps at 24...I'd be more than ok with that. It's a solid option.

I’d love if we traded Kamara for a 2nd round pick at least.

1st round: Kenneth Murray, LB Oklahoma
2nd round: KJ Hamler, WR Penn State
3rd round: CEH, RB LSU or Chuba Hubbard from OK State

If we don’t get a 2nd round pick then I like Murray in the first again and then a guy like Duvernay from Texas in the third. I would say a WR in the first but there are so many WR needy teams ahead of us that I don’t see a guy worth the 24th overall selection being there. There’s an elite group of guys: Jeudy, Ruggs, Higgins, Shenault, Lamb, Jefferson that will probably all be gone and if Murray is also gone then I can see us trading back into the 30-32 range for a 2nd round pick. One thing this FO won’t do is reach. They’ve taken value picks almost every time.

Davenport fell, they traded up to get him. Lattimore fell and they scooped him up. Ram fell and we didn’t need him but we selected him. Kamara fell and we traded up to get him. Ireland likes picking value. If there’s a guy that falls to 24: WR, DB, LB or OL then they’ll go there. I trust them

I could even see where they double dip in pass catchers if one they don’t like is there and they decide to roll with Cole Kmet, TE from Notre Dame. We were strongly linked to Eifert at the trade deadline. Brees loves TE’s and so does Payton.

They could take him and then a WR in the third round.

I'd seriously consider it for an early 2nd

It’s not that I hate Kamara. I just think we and other teams know what he is. He’s only an average runner with above average speed that runs good routes on LBs and struggles to get open vs DBs.

We need running backs like what the 49ers have. Mostert, Coleman, Wilson are all interchangeable. They can catch and run and run with speed. They might as well all wear the same jersey. Payton tips his hand at times because Murray and Kamara are so different and he basically wastes Kamara by lining him up wide instead of in the backfield. He isn’t winning consistently against DBs. He’s just a decoy. We need more out of him than that and this is a deep RB class. I feel like we can find some gems in here and start carrying more than two running backs on game days.

Is LBer really that big of a need to justify a 1st rounder? I get it if someone like Simmons fell but I just feel like we have other positions that are more crucial right now and we have decent depth at LB and an All-pro mike

I knew the exact moment that I mentioned LSU players that this guy would come along.

Nevermind the fact that Jefferson has more TD catches than anyone in SEC history. Never mind the fact that Fulton is a projected top 15 guy. Never mind the fact that Damien Lewis is a first team all American. Never mind the fact that CEH has almost 2000 yards from scrimmage and was a Doak Walker finalist.

OT who can play OG as a peat replacement and ultimately an Armstead replacement.

DT who can replace or at least fill in for Rankins.

LB, Davis is getting older and the other LBers are limited/injury prone.

WR, it’s a deep WR class and a shifty slot guy can be found in later rounds.

Maybe a S depending on what we think of Hampton and if we resign Bell.

Henry Ruggs

Like Ruggs for us. Drew will be back, and even if his arm strength isn't great, Ruggs provides big play potential. If you make a mistake on a bubble screen or are off by a step on a slant, Ruggs can go 85 yards. You'd get some free plays from him, which we desperately need.

I also would like to trade Kamara. I don't think he's terrible like some on this board, but I'd rather invest money elsewhere. We turn up random/productive RBs all the time. Maybe a 2 and 4 or a 2 and 5 in return if we're lucky.

I'm okay with IOL, WR or LB. Biadasz, Humphrey, Murray, Ruggs. We can get a great player at 24. Two great players who can start immediately if we get a 2nd somehow.

If we run it back with Brees, I would rather them sign an established receiver as #2. WRs typically take 2-3 years to develop into consistently playable players, unless they are out of this world talents.

We missed on Lamar Jackson to move up and take Marcus Davenport because we had Drew and we needed to win now. IMO I don’t feel like we need to continue to sacrifice the future to win now because I’m not sure we are gonna make that run with Drew at 40+ years old. (I hope I’m wrong). If we get an
opportunity for our QB for the next 5 years we should take it.

Davis is about to be 32

Anzalone is on the last year of his deal and has missed two whole years because of injuries. Klein could walk, and even then, he’s older and not athletic. Kind of a liability. Alonso will be cut because of his cap number and could sign elsewhere. Robertson is a complete liability when he plays now and is def just a special teamer.

Without Anzalone, who you can’t trust to be healthy, Davis is pretty much it and he’s getting older. He’s still got 1-2 good years left but outside of him we have no one. What if he gets hurt? What if he AND Anzalone get hurt? It’s a major flaw in our D. It’s probably what’s keeping us from being a truly dominant defense. Outside of Davis, we have no one. It’s like Cam Jordan on the DL before we got stacked at DL. He needs help and what’s sad is Payton has never truly valued the position like he does others. But another Davis on this team, or even just another Anzalone who actually stays healthy, catapults this defense from top 15 to top 5 territory
