What will it take for Saints to trade into the 2nd Round of the Draft ?

They will not trade their number 1 pick for two second rounders .... so they will use their 1st Pick then try to trade into the second round.
- What combination of picks would it take to secure 2nd round pick ?

They'll be at a great spot to consider trading back with their 1st rounder. That said, they've had some decent success being aggressive and getting the players they want.

Our best hope is for the quarterbacks to fall. A team may want to move up to grab Jackson to have that 5th year option. Someone like Cleveland of they don't go qb at one or four.

They basically used this year’s 2nd rounder to trade into last year’s 3rd. And because of where we draft, it would most likely need to be a combo of a 3rd or 4th & next year’s 2nd or 3rd; depending on what spot they are trying to trade to

I agree........ but too high of a price when we have so many needs.

Can't see this happening this year!!

2016 and 2017 showed two really different draft values
Both ended up pretty damn good.
That being said, this has the making of a "2016" draft IMHO.
they're going to trade up and honestly I think the draft ends up with something like
1st
3rd
3rd (trade 4 and 2 6ths)
4th (trade 2 5ths)
7th
What I really hope happens though, trade 1st for 2nd and 4th.

I could see this happening. After free agency...we're not going to have many roster spots available. No point in drafting a bunch of guys in the later rounds if there isn't a decent chance of them making the roster. You can always stash them on the practice squad, but then you risk the possibility of being poached (which is also just wasting picks).
If our depth wasn't so good...I'd say just keep the late round picks & hope to hit on some projects. With our current roster...I'd like to load up on as many 3rd & 4th round picks as possible. There's usually a huge dropoff in talent after the 3rd round, & some 3rd round talent always slips to the 4th round (like Safety Eddie Jackson last year). I'm not advocating drafting players with injury concerns, but 3rd/4th round is where you can get 2nd round talent that falls due to injury concerns (like Anzalone, Kendall Beckwith, & Carl Lawson last year). I also wouldn't complain if we traded our 1st for some picks in the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th.
Generally speaking...QB, OT, 3-down DE, & LB are the only positions that are void of top level talent by the 3rd round (there are exceptions, but this is true in general). Plenty of talent still left at RB, WR, TE, interior OL, DT, pass rushing DE, CB, & Safety. An abundance of 3rd round & early-mid 4th round picks is a sneaky way to build up talent on your roster. The Pats are known for doing this, & it's why they can constantly let their high priced UFA's sign elsewhere. They just replace them with a mid round pick that's been developing in their system for a couple of years, & they also get the comp pick for letting an elite UFA walk.
Hopefully the Saints can get to this point in a couple of years, b/c it's easily the best way to ensure long-term stability. Right now, we're basically just a year removed from successfully rebuilding the roster. Hopefully the FO makes some good decisions over the next couple of years, b/c this is definitely attainable for us.

I never understood why this is not a factor in the conditional picks for the next draft. You are literally losing a draft pick before you even have a chance to use them. At least with drafted players that you lose via FA, you were able to get 3-5 years out of them.

I guess the league thinks that if he's good enough to be poached, then you probably should have had him on your 53 man roster to be safe (like how we kept Muhammad on the 53 this past year). It goes both ways though...we were able to acquire Taysom Hill & Austin Carr by poaching them.
Definitely something to keep in mind if you have a lot of late round draft picks. You better have the available roster space if you're going to go this route. Shitty rosters like the Browns have nothing to worry about. We had nothing to worry about 2-3 years ago, but this roster is light years ahead of those days.

Just saw this on Rotoworld. Might be able to get him for like a 7th round pick. I know some wanted to draft him a couple of years ago...
ESPN's John Keim wrote "it's hard to see" Su'a Cravens returning to the Redskins.
Cravens flirted with retirement last September before leaving the team and spending the season on the exempt/left squad list. Cravens' agent said the safety was suffering from post-concussion syndrome during that episode, but he has been medically cleared now and is "looking forward" to the 2018 season. Even so, Keim doubts Washington trusts Cravens enough to keep him around, and they have found a replacement in Montae Nicholson. A second-round pick in 2016, Cravens should draw interest if Washington puts him on the block.

Guessing they cover D in round 1; to trade up would take a big OL or WR falling below anticipated spot. See a TE in the 3rd.
