What playoff caliber QB could the Saints realistically get for next year?

Not these draft hopefuls that can be a bust.

Don’t think Carr will be realistic because if the asking price. There could be 10+ teams looking for a QB on the open market. Unless a team wants to ride w TB or Rodgers, they’ll be looking a number of teams throwing money & guarantees at Carr & Lamar (although I think he stays in Balt on a tag)
Balt, Hou, Indy, NYJ, Tenn, Car, GB, NOLA, NYG, TB, Sea & Wash
I think Dalton comes back on a multi-year deal and they plan to grab a rookie in 1 of the next 2 drafts

Nobody. Stockpile picks, trade anyone with value, and basically make Dennis Allen a dead man walking until we get out of cap hell.
Or
Fire him now, stockpile picks, and get a young hungry potential coach with a young QB from the draft.
No vet is coming to the Saints to play especially with Allen as their HC.

Carr
While Carr has actually shown us that "high ceiling" people swear Winston has, he's also shown to have just as low of a floor.
We definitely do need to find a quarterback of the future....but there's no one out there we can afford and Dalton has shown he can keep our heads above water for another year.
and besides.....no quarterback is going to be able to come here and the coaching staff magically learns proper playcalling.

Could we just have an open public tryout?

Hopefully hit on a young QB through the draft, if we either suck enough or package a couple picks to move up within 3 draft cycles. Then we have to build an OL.
This will be a four to six year assembly for the Saints to contend hard for a NFC championship/SB .

With DA officially still the head coach, sign 3 undrafted recently graduated free agent QB's with two to the active roster and one on the practice squad.
Churn the roster of high priced aging vets and embrace the suck.
Get the salary cap in good order and collect future draft picks.
Goodell removed all home field advantage in the Dome with the no call.
Trade draft picks for future draft picks like Bill Belichick does sometimes. Push accumulated number one picks to the future.
Get the best QB available in a future draft with a new GM and head coach.
Hopefully, at this point, age, scandal, or some other misadventure removes Goodell from the equation.
There may be hope in the future. The NFL set out to destroy the Saints fan base and has been successful in that endeavor.
Saints fans have been very vocal as a group pointing out the no call as an example of a thoroughly fixed NFL.
It made good business sense to get Saints fans to hate CSP and Drew Brees and to become totally disillusioned.
Ignore, laugh at, or enjoy the suckage. Read the temperature of the room. The Saints organization needs to play the downtrodden game the NFL desires but stay poised for a future rebirth.

I don't hate this idea. A young, mobile QB with big-time upside on a rookie deal.
Also, why do people continue to bring up Carr.
PLAYOFF CALIBER
Derek Carr has lead a team to the playoffs twice in 9 years and has not won a single game in the playoffs. Looked like trash last year against CIN. Guy is up-and-down. That's his career trajectory. He's not consistent at all. Inconsistency =/= playoff caliber.

If Brady retires a healthy Saints team will win the division with Dalton, Carr, or probably even Winston.
This team got lucky in the Atlanta game but should have beat Minnesota, Cincinnati, Carolina (probably both times), and Tampa the second time.
Could have been 12-5 easily.

Carr and Winston aren’t playoff caliber QBs. This thread specifically asked for that.
