Jazzy JeFf go be a general in the Japanese army. You are a disgrace to the USA

Seriously. Your homerism won't allow you to be objective. The Saints absolutely blew this draft
I was ok with the first 3 picks, but we need to see how it all plays out in a couple of years. By their 2nd year, if all 3 are not starting and showing a lot of promise, then you have to face up to the fact we made a mistake(s). I agree though, that too many folks are drunk with the black & gold Kool-Aid. I can understand we all want to believe the Saints front office is making the right decisions, but if they were so correct with their decisions, then we wouldn't be on the outside looking in for the playoffs...

You are a First Round troll. Congrats.

Don't like him. I didn't like him when I first watched his tape months ago. I think he lacks pass rushing moves, he has no secondary moves when engaged with a blocker after his initial bull rush, he has a thin frame, and I don't think his get off is great. I didn't think he was a first round talent when I saw him and I still don't think he should've been.
He's above average at a lot of things but doesn't have an area that he shines in. I don't see him as a day one starter and I don't think he'll be the awesome one gap penetrator like everyone thinks he will be.
Watch this tape and form your own conclusions
If you thought that was bad tape then you don't know jack shite about line play, gap control, following a play, or maybe anything else about football.
I counted maybe five bad plays for him, while he had at least 15 impactful ones among all the others where he held his gap and kept the HB or QB from escaping or going where they wanted (and there were a lot like this).
I can't take your criticism seriously if you thought that was a bad game. Most players would love to have games like this.
Also I noticed you keep trying to point to the two games you think he played poorly. What about ANY of the other games he played?
I really don't get your beef with him.

You see that draft and UDFA, Amos?
We do a draft party every year. Hosing Pedialyte and everything smells like boudin.
I was pretty upset about the trade live, but I've come off that a bit in reading since. I was disappointed OL wasn't addressed but that's obviously changed per UDFA. I hope that doesn't hurt us. I've got a minimally rooted vendetta against Strief like he sexed my mom, but it'll be interesting to see how the year shakes out at RG and RT. I REALLYYY want Peat to be great.
In all, I didn't love it, but I'm satisfied. I haven't read up on the RB yet but I hope that's not a wasted pick. It's like when I draft Kenny Britt in the 15th and drop him right after the draft for a kicker.

Definition of unrealistic expectations.
Eta: I realize I might have misread this. It's kind of ambiguous.

A good draft all 1st 3 round starts.
It doesn't happen as often as people think, just go look at other teams.

You want the first rounder to start immediately. It doesn't always happen immediately, but it is disappointing when it doesn't. It also sort of depends where you pick. A top 5 pick, unless a qb, you want to show signs of being a star immediately. Middle first round you just want at least to be in the starting lineup the first year. Then develop into a good starter after that. Expecting a star may be a bit much, but just below pro bowl level of play at least. Last year was weird with Peat because we drafted a player early at a position where we already had starters entrenched. It's hard to judge that. He better be a strong starter this year though.
Second round pick you want to be at least a contributor the first year with moving up to being a steady starter after that. Anything more you knocked the pick out of the park. Third round picks you want to be at least a career contributor but may not may not see time rookie year. Can be more of a development player and taken along more slowly. If you get at least a steady starter then you knocked the pick out of the park.
That's the simplified version of how I see things. Things would be more complicated on a case by case basis.

Just because you see something completely different doesn't mean I don't know football. There's 10 other DL that played 3-4 DE that were better than Rankins and multitudes better that played 4-3 DT. He may have been an above average college player but not w first round pick.

So the fact we was a considered a top 20 pick by nearly every analyst and every team and a definite first rounder by all means you know more than everyone else that gets paid a lot of money to do this for a living.
That's rather impressive.

Not to mention they failed to address why they thought that "tape" was bad in ANY way.
He affected the passer several times, narrowly missing a sack a couple of times and forcing a few incompletions. He filled running lanes forcing the runner to bounce back or around. He contained the QB and either forced him into another player or kept him from escaping the pocket. He narrowly missed getting a safety. Etc. Etc. Etc.
He did so many good things in that game. The only thing I didn't like was his effort on two or three plays where it went away from him (and they went away from him quite often so he didn't give poor effort everytime it happened).

All personal insults aside here Jeff, from those on this board calling you a troll, to insults about your mother, even your dog, I have only one question for you. Why are you even a Saints fan? According to you, the Saints FO never does anything right, they can't draft good players, they don't hire good competent coaches or training staff who know what they are doing. The players suck, too old, too greedy or simply can't play. So all that being said, why do you even care? My guess is that you are on here solely for the attention. Admit it. You get off on being the Devil's Advocate but it's more than that, isn't it? It's gotta be some serious masochistic self-loathing narcassism you have going on to knowingly write a topic post that you KNOW everyone on here will take shots at you for. Or is it more simple?

quote:A little bit...but that's not my primary motive. I don't say something to just try and piss people off. I was and am genuinely disappointed in this year's draft. That doesn't mean I hate the Saints, or that I believe the players selected suck, just that IMO that left better players at critical positions on the table. And the gave up draft picks to do it.
My guess is that you are on here solely for the attention. Admit it.
Stop taking this stuff so serious. The players, the league and this board could care less about you or what you think
