What are the Saints going to do with Bush?

He is owed a $8 million bonus in March and a $10 million salary for next year plus another $10 million for the year after. Do the Saints pay it or try to redue his contract. Will Bush take less?

I redue whenever I can. I put it in my sig quote.

I don't think your numbers are correct. The common thought is that he's due $8 Mill in salary with a $13.2 Mill cap hit for 2010. The 2011 salary goes to $13 Mill.
No matter what the real numbers are, it's a shite pot full of money. You can bet that the FO is trying to figure this one out.

I think they're praying someone offers a decent draft pick for him.

Trade him to Seattle. Bush already has his ring and can now be reunited with Pete.

If Im Loomis, I re-sign him not resign him.

They can't trade him for draft picks.
Just pay the $8 million and play along.

Which asks, as Loomis Jr.s, WHAT would you accept in trade for Reginald?
I like the Seattle/Carroll match/need. #40 + Leroy Hill would do the deal for me. Or Aaron Curry straight up.

They would probably jump on either of those, but I don't know if Seattle offers that much.

Dunno, he had a pretty consistent 2009, and I'm curious to see how he'd do with more carries. I'd pay the $8m this year if it didn't mean $12m+ next year or $4m+ to cut him.

I guess he's talking 'bout the front office. Wish things had worked out better since we got Reggie.

Since 2006, which Saint has the most TDs?
Posted on 2/24/10 at 12:18 pm to Sophandros
id rather keep him just because I'd hate to have to play against him.

There's that aspect, as well. Now, the Saints of Old would have released him outright or traded him to a division rival. These Saints know better than to do that.
IF they trade him, the deal needs to be REALLY sweet.
However, as Certified Bush Hater Bill Barnwell from Football Outsiders notes, the Saints can afford to keep him: LINK
(btw, good analysis of why NOT franchising Sharper is a good idea. Four words: regression to the mean. OK, two more words: run defense)
