Seems as though no one is in agreement. Almost every suggestion gets negative feedback. But we only have so many options. Pick your poison

A) trade up for Ward

B) Sanders or Dart at 9, maybe Dart falls to the 2nd. (this board favors Dart)

C) Settle for Milroe, Howard, McCord, Ewers later on

D) ride with Rattler

E) Go after our 4th FA QB in a row

F) Make up with Carr

What other options do we have?

It’s funny because you’re the exact poster I was thinking about while making this thread. You just jump in to every discussion to call people stupid but you don’t have any ideas or thoughts for yourself.

If we don't get a QB round 1 or 2 just stick with Rattler. It makes no sense to have 2 project QBs on the roster.

I know I'll probably get down voted to oblivion but you go get your QB no matter what the price. I'm tired of having these projects. Let's go get one of the "top" guys.

think you've got all the realistic options in the OP. A trade for a vet is kinda off the table to me because it's really only Cousins out there and we aren't gonna trade with the Falcons.

I agree. I think this is likely their attitude - they do this anyway even with non QBs. I also think that when you combine that thought process with the fact that this team (and most NFL teams, tbh) will NEVER make their decisions based on "next year's draft / tanking", it feels extremely likely that this team will leave the draft with one of Sanders, Dart or Shough, whether it's from picking them at 9 (or a trade up to 5-7) or trading from 40 back up into the late first.

It is a STRICTLY fan-type-of-mentality to say "lets tank and draft a QB next year". NFL teams, especially the Saints, just don't do that, at least not before the season actually starts. They will absolutely not enter the season without a guy they actually think they can win with, whether it's a vet acquisition or a rookie.

I completely agree with you. I’m just not sure they’re actually top guys.

We're going to use our extra 3rd and 4th round picks to trade back into the 1st from 40 for Dart or Shough. It has been written, so shall it be done.

I'm not sold on that either. But damnit I want them to take a shot at some point.

I'm fearful we do something dumb like sign Rodgers that essentially puts us back in the Carr trajectory

Hopefully the front office just tries to make the team better and we take a QB next year, unless they think the next great QB is there for the taking. If Carr is gone then ride with Rattler for a year and we are guaranteed to pick near the top, if not the top and then do the same process, draft a QB if the staff loves him, if not, make the team better. But we are talking about Loomis doing something than is rational.

Oh for sure...

There are too many variables for this to be a good strategy

What if your target gets a serious injury?

What if your target commits a terrible off the field issue that makes you question him?

Who is to say you will be in position to take that guy?

Fact is, Moore is trying to establish himself as a head coach. And if he thinks he can work with someone like a sanders...go for it.

Sanders will be available at 9. We will take Dart who will be a bust and Sanders will be ROY. This is the way.

D is the best choice.
All of the other options set the franchise back.

I like Ward but he is not worth the very high cost of moving up to no1.
If you sell out to get the no1 he's got to be a no doubter. That's not Ward.
If there is a QB the HC likes in rounds 2-7 he will try to draft them.
I expect Carr to play in 25 or be traded.
Was expecting a Flaco signing. So it's Carr, Ratt or a drafted QB for us this season.
Cheers all.
And lighten up. Life is more fun that way.

The only thing that bothers me is being a fan of the 1 franchise that refuses to draft a QB in round 1.

Other than that I'm all good lol

I would take either in the 2nd. I wouldn't even be mad if we traded up in to the low 30s in the 1st for one of them. I just don't want them at 9.

I think they do on occasion like the suck for luck season. But by and large you’re absolutely correct. Just so many moving parts in a football game it’s hard to control everything enough to “tank”

I would go with “C” and take another project QB. My reason is that I don’t love the other options in the draft except maybe for Ward, but fear the price would be way too high. I would let Haener go and then give Rattler and, say, Ewers chances to see who might be the future. I suspect this would result in a lot of losses but would also allow us to shore up other positions of need earlier in the draft (edge, OL, CB … we need em all!).

The NO Saints are doomed for a while, just face it. This team cannot win, even with a great draft.
