A big issue for the Panthers in the Deshaun Watson negotiations was his representatives wanted the team to guarantee the third and fourth years of his contract, which the team wouldn't do, per league source.

Deshaun Watson and any guaranteed contract language discussion with Carolina relevant to any potential trade, but pull of home state Falcons, Saints' competitive roster, presence of Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara, larger factors in decision to eliminate Panthers from consideration

He's 26, guarantee the shite.
If he can't play due to legal trouble it won't matter anyway.

So it is hometown pull vs guaranteed all pro players surrounding you? I am starting to think Watson is retarded.

That is beyond stupid on Panthers part. He is 26 and stud, why not guarantee his contract. You can always cover yourself with causes to void if you are worried about legal troubles.

I mean that's what drew you to that conclusion? Not that fact that he could have paid Instawhores to finger his butt and avoided this whole mess to begin with?
He's a fricking idiot.

I wonder if his proposed contract has specific language regarding morality outs?
Remember how the Falcons were screwed when Vick got tossed for dog fighting? Blank would be the last guy i would think would enter into a long term contract with someone who has a pattern of risky behavior.

When you see someone else say it, it makes you really wonder if Watson is actually smart.
