I like the Auburn QB as a possible Brees replacement prospect

Mayfield might go in the first round. I’m thinking second. We could take a chance on him tho. I wouldn’t complain.

Lol of course it has. Sorry, I worded it weird. I meant like personality-wise Payton and Mayfield fit perfect

I'm all in for it honestly. I think he's the best all-around QB coming out this year. Others may have better measurables, etc., but I see Mayfield a lot like Watson last year. People found reasons to put him down but he always played in big games. He's also the most accurate passer in all of CFB despite putting up big numbers.

He's a bit overrated but wasn't Aikman a Big 12 qb?

A QB doesn't complete 71 % of his passes with atrocious footwork & mechanics. This is complete horseshite.

We can draft 1st Rd QB next year & he should be able to step in & play right away (Watson, Wentz) or maybe year 2 (Goff)

Yeah that's a great plan. Completely ignore the QB position in what will be a QB heavy draft.

How do y'all imagine we'll be in a position to draft him without giving away this entire draft and part of the next one?

Outside of the Jags who have the best front 7 in the NFL & a talented secondary, which other teams in the NFL are in contention which poor QB play? This is a QB driven league. A franchise lives or dies with whether they have a competent single caller or not. Any fan should want the organization to stay competitive post Brees. If a QB like Mayfield is envisioned as a franchise QB, you make the INVESTMENT & go get him. Ask the Rams if they regret moving up to get Jared Goff. We will find out sooner or later if the same goes for the Chiefs & Pat Mahomes.

in the Big 12 you can... let's not act like they play defense in that league....

Then why didn't other Big XII QBs put up Mayfield type numbers this season? The only other Big XII QB who was close was Will Grier & he will be drafted somewhere in the 2nd to 3rd round.

By the way, he surely did chew up a good Auburn defense last year in the Sugar Bowl.

QB heavy draft

I love when people say this before seeing any of them play. You don’t fricking know if this class is QB heavy or if They’re all busts. Rosen, Darnold & maybe Allen or Rudolph will get picked before him. I’d move up to the early 3rd, late 2nd but definitely not w my 1st 2 picks. Patterson, Grier & Stidham come out next year (As well as Kyle Allen & maybe Jacob Eason) I’d just wait & take one of them.

The term heavy class simply means that there will be a larger number of available players at said position in a particular draft. It has nothing to do with how they will perform, idiot.

Patterson, Grier & Stidham

He will be in the 2018 draft class, not the QB 2019 class.

The scoop: "I think what happened is that with all the focus on the big three (Josh Rosen, Sam Darnold and Josh Allen), quarterbacks like (Will) Grier (West Virginia), the Memphis quarterback (Riley Ferguson) and Jeremiah Briscoe (Sam Houston State) flew under the radar for a lot of scouts. Grier really has scouts taking notice now. ... I need to start watching him because the production has been impressive." -- NFC scout

Mayfield... 71%
Shimonek (Tex Tech).... 68%
Hill (TCU)... 67%
Rudolph (Okla St.)... 65%
Grier (WV)... 64%

yards:
Rudolph... 4553 (in 1 less game, at that)
Mayfield... 4340
Schimonek... 3547
Grier.... 3490

TD:
Mayfield... 41
Rudolph... 35
Grier... 34
Schimonek... 30

pt. responsible for:
Mayfield... 278
Rudolph... 270

so as you can see... other QB's did put up similar numbers in a majority of categories...

look, Mayfield is a great college QB... no one is debating that.... but as far as a pro, i just don't see him being a great option... his game, much like that of RG3, Tebow, Manziel, etc, just doesn't translate very well to the NFL...

Yeah the Saints would have to give up the farm to get him. Would love him to be here but I don't see it happening.

Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson & Carson Wentz will disagree with your assessment.
