Was Stevens Headed to Carolina?

Wondering if the Saints pulled the trigger on drafting Stevens in the 7th because our team felt he was going to sign with Carolina as a UDFA because of his relationship with Joe Brady.
If so, keeping him from becoming a Taysom Hill type weapon for a division rival with a creative OC is not a bad move.

Any team can sign any of our players that are on the practice squad to their 53 man roster.
