Mike Evans is younger than Thomas.............
Would he have left Mahomes off the list of top 5 quarterbacks? Cruz was twice suspended from UMASS for academic reasons. He is not genius material.

MT had more targets from a substantially better QB. Catch % and YAC are attributable to that, and the sort of routes they run.
They had an almost identical number of targets with Thomas leading 147 to 138. And Thomas seldom saw a prevent defense when playing two scores down.

Yep.
That was to address your argument that Brees looks more often to his 3rd, 4th and 5th targets. Regardless of that, MT had more targets.
So I’m not really sure what your argument is for that, or the catch % or YAC stats.

They had ALMOST IDENTICAL target numbers.
I am simply saying Thomas is better overall and not a GM in the country would take Evans over Michael Thomas. His total yards number, the ONLY CATEGORY HE LEADS THOMAS IN, is less meaningful in the context of the seasons both men played.

didn’t put mike in there bc he’s “still young”
MT has 3 full years, guess he needs to another 5 years to be considered one of the best??? As someone else pointed out would Mahomes need to wait 3 more years to make a top 5 QB? Would Barkley need to wait 4 more years to be one of the best RBs, AK another 2 years?

Agreed
I know they’re interchangeable, what caught my eye is having Mike Evans on the list, this is a list for top 5 receivers not a list for top5 sucker punches

Also leads yards/reception.
You pointed to catch % and YAC as stats that make MT better than Evans, somehow. I’m not following your argument at all.

Mike Evans is not better than Thomas.
He is a great receiver but a LOT of his gaudy numbers came in 2nd halves when the Bucs has surrendered leads and the defense was softened. For example in his last game of the season almost all of 170 yards came down two touchdowns.
lets spin this.....who has drew bress throwing them the football and who has had winston/fitzmagic?

He tried to address that point, but didn’t do so well.

Then Bobby Carpenter came in “you forgot the guy with the best twitter handle in the game, more catches in first 3 seasons then any other guy in history... gotta get my guy Can’t guard mike in there!!”
Cruz said he didn’t put mike in there bc he’s “still young” what a great reason.
In before frick ESPN
The only guy you could really argue with is Mike Evans.

Honestly, Hopkins at 3 is high
He's probably the best WR in the league right now.

The list is subjective and you can make arguments about order and who belongs or doesn’t. But OBJ doesn’t belong on that list. Based on 2018, the list is some order of:
Michael Thomas
Deandre Hopkins
Adam Thielen
Antonio Brown
Julio Jones
Devante Adams
JuJu Smith-Schuster
The next group is Stefon Diggs, Tyreek Hill, Robert Woods, Mike Evans & Keenan Allen.
OBJ is super talented, but he had a similar year (with similar stats per game) as Tyler Boyd and Amari Cooper last year.

Evans leads Thomas in yardage only.
Brees is a better QB, obviously. But Winston still had the 8th best QBR rating so he is at least in the top tier of NFL QBs. WInston has a stronger arm than Brees and better accuracy at throws of over 20 yards as of last year giving Thomas more shots at big yardage plays. WInston is more likely to hone in on Evans and not even search for another option than Brees is to do so with Thomas.
And not a single GM in the NFL would choose Evans over Thomas if given the choice.

Wow.
If you were a GM would you choose Evans over Thomas if you had your pick of the two?

Great to see they are still using the "he young" line. Steve Smith said the same sh*t last year. And look what MT did. Nobody was saying "he young" to Julio or OBJ or Hopkins in Year 4. Why they doing this to MT?

That question is relevant to this discussion how?
I mean shite dude, you just called Jameis Winston a top tier QB.
