he's NEVER played an entire slate of games in a season since he's been in the league

There's a good hit of linemen who are good that don't actually.

Tyron Smith has missed at least 3 games the past 5 years.

Lane Johnson has missed a lot of time. Bakhtiari has a few seasons like that too.

Now I agree armstead is not the healthiest player. But the past 2 years he's played in 14 and 15 games and into the playoffs. That can't be discounted either.

He may not fetch a 1st, but above average LT play isn't easy to find.

I'm sure he may be able to.... but again, as I just pointed out, he misses a lot of time with injuries... again, what do you realistically think the market would be for this guy? sure, there are some desperate teams out there, need OL help, but given what we know about him, what do you realistically think we would get in return for him?

Probably a high 3rd, late 2nd at best.

Kwon is an easy cut. They may try to re-sign him at a more reasonable salary. Extending Ram and Lattimore will save cap room. Likely that MT and many others get restructured. Would not be surprised if Brown, Morstead, PRob and Sanders get released (maybe even Josh Hill). Jackrabbit likely gets restructured (add a voidable year or two) or gets released.

Just looking at our cap #'s & dead caps...I think our best bet is to trade some of our players for the best draft picks that we can get.

We should be contacting other teams to see how interested they are in our players on the trade block. We have some players that a lot of teams would be willing to give up their draft picks for.

The last time we did this was the 2017 draft & look how that turned out. The draft is the only way to come out of this off-season on top.

Is Goodell going to take another draft pick?

The Saints may be waiting to see what damage Goodell does first.

I don't want Goodell taking a nice trade pick away.

I believe his behavior is personal.

That 6th rounder used on Tommy Stevens sounds good right about now

Oh well, Saints will stay competitive I think with an intact OLine and playmakers on offense. Expecting a step back on defense but still have some talent on that side of the ball including one of the better LB’s in the game

We might get a 6th round comp pick for AJ Klein

you mean former top 4 pick of the draft, only played in 10 or less games twice in 9 seasons Trent Williams? wonder why he could command such a high price? it truly is a mystery...

He was also coming off a very serious neck injury if I remember correctly, much worse than anything Armstead has had. Not to mention he is healthy at this moment and played good this season....

Of all those guys...I really don't want to part ways with Malcom Brown. He's the backbone of our run defense.

Screw Goodell! It will make it that much better when we magically navigate cap hell again this year

I've about had it with that cocksucker as well. He's so damn petty.

I will say, I think Jerry Jones is an idiot from a NFL management standpoint.

But he was one of the only ones to have a backbone regarding Goodell. While everyone else is worried about the dollars coming in, Jones realizes it's not just Goodell doing it.

I think there's a better chance they move Ramczyk to LT and pay him (while freeing up space). But moving Armstead seems like a > 50% scenario. I hate it, but this is where we are.

This may be the best move to do with the line. I don’t know what you can get for Armstead....kind of wish O’Brien was still the Texans GM cause I’m sure we could get a 2nd from him.

But I think you try to trade Armstead, move Ram to LT, keep Peat at guard cause we had to pay that contract, and draft your new RT.

Regardless of what happens, it will be interesting to see how Loomis does his magic this time.

Armstead has been healthy the last 2 years...we should be able to get a mid 2nd at worst imo. Legit LT's don't come cheap.

Unless there is a unknown future starter at tackle siting on our bench right now I don't see any change at LT or RT.

Both Terron and Ryan are top five tackles in not allowing QB pressures(1000 snaps+)

Peat(over paid under performing) Caesar(rookie) and Easton(released) are the areas that may see needed improvement.

Playing around real quick on OTC and using their #s:

Extend: Ram, Sanders, Latt, Kwon & Jackrabbit saves about $39M
Restructure: Cam, MT, Peat & Armstead saves another $31.2
Cut post-6/1: Morstead $3.5M savings

This will get us about $1M under the cap minimum of $180M and keep a lot of the core together. They still need to clear enough money for the draft and bring back some of their FA. But if I can throw this together in a matter of minutes, I'm sure Loomis has a few more ideas.

Good post. I'm sure Loomis has some good ideas up his sleeve. If anyone can manipulate the cap...it's him. He's a bean counter...that's the way his mind works.

I'd also consider extending Malcom Brown. He's only 27 years old & he's been a monster against the run for all of his 3 years in New Orleans. He's been a very durable player for us as well.

I'm not sure we would touch Mike Thomas' contract. I think we restructured his last year. His cap # is over 20 mil in 2022-2024. Can't really keep raising those numbers.

I would say restructure Malcolm Jenkins, but I'm not sure given his age. He had a very average year in 2020 for his standards as well. I'd keep his contract as it is.

The thing that annoys me the most is Taysom Hill having a cap # over 16 mil. That's absurd imo.

I don't think we will ever get a straight answer from CSP on this one
