Just updated the OP. We gained a couple mil in cap space by trading Trautman, & our roster is almost full now.

We have 16.814 mil in estimated cap space, & TE is easily our biggest need in Free Agency.

Bringing Kwon back would make a lot of sense. There are still quite a few linebackers in free agency that can really help us. I would take any one of these guys for the right contract.

11 - Jaylon Smith, LB, Giants. Age: 29.
20 - Jayon Brown, LB, Raiders. Age: 28.
21 - Zach Cunningham, LB, Titans. Age: 28.
25 - Myles Jack, LB, Steelers. Age: 27.
26 - Deion Jones, LB, Browns. Age: 28.
27 - Rashaan Evans, LB, Falcons. Age: 26.
28 - Kwon Alexander, LB, Jets. Age: 29.

Took a stab at what LB spots these guys play, Davis has the MLB spot nailed down but we could use some depth. I would think we really need help at the SAM spot, I liked the Zach Baun pick on draft day but he really hasn't elevated his game like I thought he would. Baun starting with Ty Summers backing him up looks very suspect in paper.

I saw that too. Pray we have a couple of the younger WR's who can out block him in camp this year.

Most 4-3 linebackers are typically pretty interchangeable in all 3 LB positions. Will may be the exception as they are usually super athletic guys that can chase down plays from the backside. I would imagine we would play a lot of nickel this year like we have in the past. We definitely need a vet or two to throw into the mix to give us options and depth for injuries

Jake Luton and Derrick Gore Released.

NBC Sports Link

ETA: Also add Malik Flowers WR/RS he has a great chance of making the 53 man as a return guy to replace Sheheed when he steps into a larger WR role.

Just updated the OP from 5 days ago.

-May 2nd - Waived QB Jake Luton
-May 2nd - Waived RB Derrick Gore
-May 3rd - Signed WR Malik Flowers (UDFA)

LINK

Here’s a late undrafted free agent pickup for the New Orleans Saints. The Montana Grizzlies announced that wide receiver Malik Flowers has signed with New Orleans after not being picked in the 2023 NFL draft; he’s a 5-foot-11, 193-pound wide receiver who mainly worked as a returns specialist in college.

And he’s very impressive on kick returns. Flowers returned 92 kickoffs for 2,659 yards in his five-year career (an average of 28.9 yards per attempt), scoring 7 touchdowns in the return game. He wasn’t asked to field punts often, though, so he’ll need to work on that phase of the game to hang on with the Saints.

Flowers only played a bit part on offense at Montana until 2022, when he set career highs as a receiver — catching 31 receptions for 460 yards and a pair of touchdown grabs. He totaled 51 catches for 716 yards with 4 touchdown receptions in his career, along with 16 rushing attempts for another 251 yards and a touchdown run. He may have only timed the 40-yard dash in 4.52 seconds, but he can move when the pads come on.

The Saints don’t have a clear returns specialist on the roster right now with Rashid Shaheed lined up for a bigger role on offense, so there’s an opportunity for Flowers to make the cut if he performs well over the summer. He’ll get his first chance to shine at rookie minicamps in the next week or two.

I updated our F.A. needs on the OP. In short, my 4 biggest wants in F.A. are TE, Jarvis Landry for cheap, P.J. Williams for cheap, & LB

I also updated up the available F.A. list...

These are the free agents that went off the board since I last updated everything around 10 days ago
-#13 RB Jerick McKinnon - Resigned with Chiefs
-#20 RB Latavius Murray - Signed with Bills
-#39 RB Giovani Bernard - Officially Retired

-#40 WR Randall Cobb - Signed with Jets
-#46 WR Miles Boykin - Resigned with Steelers

-#22 TE Eric Tomlinson - Signed with Texans

-#32 OG Colby Gossett - Signed with Browns

-#07 DT Poona Ford - Signed with Bills

Pretty nice little run on DT's this late in free agency. 2 decent options at RB as well

Just updated the OP...

We signed 4 of our 7 draft picks
-RB Kendre Miller's cap # - 1.028 mil
-OG Nick Saldiveri's cap # - 960 k
-S Jordan Howden's cap # - 831 k
-WR A.T. Perry's cap # - 794 k

There are only 4 players that haven't had their contracts released yet...DT Bryan Bresee, DE Isaiah Foskey, QB Jake Haener, & TE Foster Moreau

udfa TE Joel Wilson failed his physical, so he won't be signing with the Saints after all. This puts us at 85 total players, so we still have room to sign 5 more
