Regardless of an injury, if the saints were to trade for a back up to mold to take over for Brees when he leaves, which one would you choose? Tyrod (29), Foles (29), Teddy (25)

I don’t see any of them as a franchise qb, just qbs that are good enough to maintain a positive win total till we find the qb of the future. Teddy has the most upside because of his age but is the least polished. Thoughts?

Files is the safest pick for sure and probably makes the most sense. I'm intrigued by Teddy though. There's a ton of parallels with what hes going through and Drew.

Teddy if he can have a couple years behind Drew. Foles if it’s due to a mid season injury.

Teddy is fragile.

Give me Foles long term.

Bridgewater would be the next Drew Brees if we were to get his arse here and us be able to pay him very well to be the "Bridge" for this and next season then he has full reigns.

Foles aint exactly the most durable QB either.

Teddy had a freak accident. That's like calling Brees fragile because he hurt his shoulder

I’m holding out hope that a QB (Stidham, Browning, etc) will fall to the Saints in the draft especially all the guys drafted last year.

To answer your question: none of the above.

We don't have a rd 1 pick so QB early next year is out the window. At this point with the way the team is built I'd rather a guy like Foles/Bridgewater to take advantage of all the talent we have right now.

Would be best fit for Sean Payton and the offense. Already have a good OL,running game, and young WR talent in place for him to rely on and not get face smashed in.

A positive win total will mean it cost more to move up and draft the QB of the future which means more pics spent. Don't mind any of those QB's just don't want to give up pics for them if they are not going to be the guy.

Brees had an injury reaching out to secure a fumble and had someone dive on him at the same time which tore up his shouder. This was a freak play.

Teddy dropped back, planted his right leg, untouched, and had his entire knee explode. I’ll pass. His legs are extremely thin and I’d worry about future leg injuries with him.

I like the idea of getting Teddy Bridgewater. Sitting behind Brees for 2 years and then taking over.

Foles caught lightning in a bottle. I think the real Foles is the we saw in St Louis.

Foles = Jeff Hostetler = Doug Williams.... The later two came in when the starter got hurt and led a run heavy defensive minded team to the SB.

Taylor is okay. He doesn't take chances and plays extremely safe. No team is winning like that.

Bridgewater is easily the most exciting prospect of the bunch.
But that's not saying a whole lot.

I will say this, Bridgewater is one of the few black QB's I have seen that reminds me of Warren Moon. Pure passer, run not an option unless pushed out of the pocket. Pass first always.

I think if he is healthy he would be a great fit here.

Don't want a run option QB.

I know no one wants to hear this, but the most likely way we're going to find our next great QB is to suck for a year or two and get into a high position to draft him. Finding a backup to keep us at 6-9 wins every year post Brees is a mediocre strategy.

We have a damn good young roster. It’s not worth gutting those players in a year or two in order for a chance of sucking....in order to have a chance of drafting a qb...who in turn has a chance of being good.

Brees isn’t carrying this team anymore. We actually have a good roster.

I understand that strategy, I do, I just think it's not as likely to result in the kind of success we all really want. I don't want to waste a season or two of this young talent group's prime either, but I think that's more than likely what's going to happen. If we get the next great QB out of it, I'll be OK with it.

I would agree with that strategy if we had nothing else going on for us. We could also at some point try and trade up for that guy in the draft. If we are truly just a QB away at that point its worth the gamble. I don't necessarily think this team has to tank. If we revert back to a crap defense then we may have to.

And I don't think we will tank. I think we will do exactly what you guys (and the OP) thinks we will do. We'll go out and try to find a star back-up who can be good enough to get us to the superbowl (like the Eagles). So we agree on that. All I'm saying is that I, personally, don't think it will work and that we'll wind up sucking for a season or two and then draft the next guy.

And yes, I know the percentages on how many of these top draft picks work out, but it is what it is.
