We lose that game if he doesn't do that.

Exactly. We're not the fricking weaksauce Cubs, who take pride in being "lovable losers". A "lovable loser" is still a fricking loser.

Point is, while Malcolm's strip is a great individual clutch key play, it's not even the actual game winner of that game, say like Reggie Bush's punt return TD against the Bucs in '06 which indirectly helped us go to our first NFCCG. (Drew Brees' 12 yd pass to Moore after an 89 yd clutch drive was the game winner in Dallas.)

Add in the fact that it contributed to a season that ended in a disappointing first round playoff loss without even a confrence or division title, it loses its enduring power of significance when you look at the big picture.

This thread is about great "road" plays.

Thanks Freek.

I have been out of the loop on saints talk for a while.

ima go check her out!

On the road plays......

I know it wasnt an inherently spectactular play,
but when Brees QB sneaked that touchdown in Miami in 09 and then dunked the football on the goal post.
WOW! JIMP

Actually, you could argue that without that play, they would have never had the chance to do so. Dalls could have easily kept the ball to run time and kick a FG and pretty sure the game is over.
So even though it's not "the game-winning play", it basically is.

I don't mean to detract from any fans that have been fans for a lifetime and have been through all of the lows. I respect the hell out of anyone that can stay a fan through the lows. But I just didn't like football. It's not like I was a fan of another team and just jumped ship when the Saints started winning. I'm a nerdy guy, my family never have been big football fans, so I didn't grow up really enjoying football. Now I do, and I love our Saints and LSU. Sorry if that doesn't please another fan because I didn't experience the lows.

I feel you. It was the key turning point play to me as well (that's why I list it in my Top 5), similar to Drew Brees' goal line TD against Miami before the half.

Difference is, Brees' play went on to help secure home field advantage on our way to the Super Bowl in '09. In retrospect, it was really huge, just like his cajones to skip the FG.

Jenkins' dramatic clutch play did not transcend that game or lend itself to any greater significance. Plus, it wouldn't be as great if Drew doesn't drive them to a game-winning TD, and would probably be forgotten. Capitalizing on the key turnover gives it its enduring power. Great memorable play, but ultimately it means nothing other than being useful in smack talk to Cowboys fans.

True

Drew's rushing TD at Miami was really indicative of him pulling the team from the brink of destruction in that game. From that play on, they looked like the Saints that won the superbowl.

Can't believe only one person mentioned plays from the Superbowl.

Porter's pick 6 and the onside kick were some of the best plays in Saints history.

I say exclude the super bowl because at least two or three could be taken from that game alone (porter's pick 6, onsides kick, and moore's 2 pt conversion).

It's like that for a reason. I started the thread under that condition

Somewhat of an underappreciated one, but I’ll never forget the Shockey catch and stiff-arm run against Miami. I truly think that single play turned that game around and possibly sustained that season’s dream run.

No love for Sharper? I would go with this play because in my opinion, it set the tone for the second half.
