Wish they could've found room for the Porter INT of Favre.

Interesting question - If plays from opposing teams were included what might bump Saints plays?

Browns 1st franchise win on hail Mary?
Falcons playoff win in 91 or so?
Bucs first franchise win after 20 consecutive losses?

I get to be Debbie Downer on this one... I've never been a fan of "Hakim Drops the Ball" as a "great" play in Saints history.

It's based off of another player's horrible error... not anything the Saints did to cause it.

And the implication is that if Hakim DIDN'T drop the ball... then the Saints would have blown the lead and lost.

To me... Porter's interception to save the NFC Championship game is a much more worthy play.

1983 - Saints vs. Rams

Mike Lansford nails a 42 yard field goal on the final play of the season to send the Rams to the playoffs, and the Saints to another non-winning season.

The Saints fell to 8-8, and a 17th consecutive season of non-winning. Had the Saints won, they could have made the playoffs for the first time.

Let me tell you... this play was easily the most crushing of its time for the Saints. I was just a little kid at the time. I ran to my bedroom, buried my face in my pillow and CRIED. That's how bad it was.

Right. Most people seem to forget that we were winning prior to the drop. It was just assumed that the Rams would drive the 90+ yards in the 1:45 and win the game, so obviously we didn't have too much confidence in our D.

With that said, it was the nail in the coffin for the franchise's first playoff win, so I'd say it was pretty significant.

youre missing the point.

It still happened. We got lucky, something that never had been on our side before.

I was 5 and remember the kick, but I don't think that was a huge deal for the rams to simply get a wild card spot. They had been to the super bowl before.

Was definitely crushing for us though.

1) Saints vs Falcons will be the play I will never forget - I teared up when it happened. was the most awesome play for the 1st game back in the dome.

2) Porters Int would be my number 2
3) Hartleys Kick to win the NFCCG would be a very, very close 3rd

not real sure what my 4 and 5 would be - but those are my top 3

1. Gleason's Block
2. Hartley's Kick
3. Porter's Pick
4. Willie Jackson walks into the endzone against the Rams(first time I felt: we will actually win a playoff game)
5. Deuce converts on 3rd down to seal NFC championship berth vs Philly

that is my list...many will disagree, but they have special significance for the franchise.

Other greats:
*Tommy Myer's 100 yard INT return off of Tarkenton in '78 opener, put Saints up 31-17 in eventual 31-24 win. Crowd went nuts.
*Muncie's 80 yard run against the Falcons in '79 opener.
*Bordelon's INT return for TD off of Stabler to open second half on MNF against Raiders to make it 35-14 in eventual 42-35 loss. Dome went ballistic.
*Morten Andersen's GW FG against Frisco in '92 I think. (Might have been '91). That was the fire from the rafters game also I believe.
*Reggie's 3 long punt returns (2 for TDs) vs Arizona in '09 Divisional playoff game.
*Devery Henderson's long TD catch from Brees vs Patriots in '09 that stamped the Saints superiority that night.

Porter's pick belongs for sure. It was such an anti- same old saints moment that embodied that team

You're right. I just looked it up and confirmed his yardage in that game (336). I then computed it to be 6.3% of his total career yards - quite a game in the grand scheme of his career!

You would be hard pressed to find many people especially Browns fans, that would disregard their previous 50 years of history and count that win as their first franchise win.

Most people just treat those years as the team suspended operations, not as a stop point and 2 different franchises.
