I agree with him IF DeForest Buckner, Joey Bosa, Myles Jack, and Jaylon Smith are off the board. Assuming we go DT in round 1, is there really that much difference between Sheldon Rankin, A'Shawn Robinson, Jarran Reed, Andrew Billings, and Vernon Butler? And at DE Shaq Lawson, Kevin Dodd, and Jonathan Bullard should be available later in round 1.

He mentions these teams as possible trade partners because all are looking or QB's.

The Philadelphia Eagles are drafting 13th and they absolutely have to get a QB. The Rams at #15 overall, are in the same boat. The Jets at #20 and the Texans at #22, also need help at the QB position.

What I just got out of this is that the Eagles, Rams, Jets and Texans all did better than us

This guy here agree's 110%

This may make a historic move by CSP and the FO as they have never traded a first to move down. And I may finally be right in predicting a trade down! That's important.

Yes trade down if the guys aren't there. But, will the picks be late rounders this year or next?

I think you can't remove "next year" pics.

I can see some teams trying to leap frog in front of the Eagles trying to get a QB. I guess alot of things have to happen maybe 1 or 2 QB'S taking in Top 10 would make a team reach for the 12 spot to get a QB. It could be a good situation for us just depending on who that team is and what they are willing to give up for the 12 spot.

If we can get the Jets or Texans 1st and 2nd round this year I'm down for it.The Saints would hold 1st and 2 2nd rounds an be able to address DT,DE,and G position easily with a trade like that. This would allow the team to get younger, better, and add future starters to the roster quickly. But I don't see it happening it's to good to be true, I can dream though. Lol

Only issue this QB class is weak.... who would be around that a team would want?

Wentz and Goff I assume would be off by 12 so would a team trade up for Lynch?

Plug it into FanSpeak draft and see how you do versus the computer. I think a tradedown leaves plenty of talent on the board, including offensive line help in rounds 2 or 3.

Honestly, the way I'm reading into this draft is that outside of Bosa, Ramsey and Jack, there's nothing elite on defense. Jaylon Smith could still be something depending on his leg, but I read he's better suited as a 34 ILB and I'm pretty sure Dennis Allen runs a base 43. I'd be completely fine with trading down to garner more picks because nearly anyone we draft is going to be of help to us and I'd love to land another early round pick if possible.

Those 3 are the only ones with 1st round grades right now. Lynch would probably be the target at 12, although it could happen that Goff or Wentz slip. It's not likely, but it's possible.

Just curious if a team would feel any are worth trading up for. I could see the Giants trading down as well since they do not need skill position help (QB, RB, WR, TE, CB, S)

Word. Teams are more likely to trade up for Wentz and Goff and as you pointed out they're likely to be gone by #12. I'm hoping like heck that either Bosa, Buckner, Jack, or Smith falls to us at #12. If not, we're going to end up picking a guy that will not be much better than the guy who gets picked at, say, #20.

Would love to land Smith and hope his injury scares a few teams into allowing him to drop... Sadly though I think the Saints would still pass on him as well

Every year we discuss this and it never happens in any rounds. The Saints staff are not a trade back kind of staff. They are more likely to reach on a player they want just to get him, kind of staff. Maybe Ireland changes that but I doubt it.

If they can trade back and pick up shaq Lawson great. I don't get too high on the draft but shite this kid is exciting. Played great all beat up in the championship game. Never comes off the field. I'd be ecstatic with him

Not simply even reach.

We'll trade back into a round we're already picking in to take someone.

We target specific players, not hope for a player at a position to just be there.

Loomis said that he and CSP wanted to trade up early in last years draft and Ireland talked them out of it. I don't think that we'll trade back, just do all the factors that have to happen...but I wouldn't rule it out like past years. Ireland seems to have changed our drafting philosophy.
