The guy is good but he got away with alot of physical play in college. He won't be able to just be more physical he will have to run routes eventually

that's what they do these days too.
I love how the refs have stayed with the old school mentality.
they really do have such an easy job.
The refs would definitely call it, but if they hit him hard enough, you think he'll be going over the middle much more? frick no. Take his head off, take the 15 yard penalty, and watch his bitch arse never do it again.

For the longest time Tampa's playmakers have been on D and finally Lovie drafts a couple guys who will be playmakers on O
YIPEE!

Just need someone to get them the ball.

Not only does he get lit the hell up in a real game. The FS breaks on the ball only after the ball comes out of McCown's (I'm assuming) hand and has traveled almost 5 yards. Byrd has the awareness and range to react and be there much quicker.
Nope that was UDFA QB Brett Smith out of Wyoming...he sailed it a bit

We got McCown and if he is horrible this year we know we can get a good one in next years draft
The O weapons are there for McCown to recreate his success from last year
I also loved NoLa's draft with Cooks (who seems more to me like Steve Smith - the good one) and I had Jean-Baptiste as a playmaker at CB, you love a guy with length and the ability to catch like he can at CB
And I think Vinnie Sunseri will pleasantly surprise you guys...he's an instant impact on Special Teams and a good back-up at S

He's still a raw route runner, but he's dangerous. Nobody should have him rated higher than Watkins as a pure receiver, but you can get creative with Evans.
No, he is a good route runner. He was always adjusting to the situation at QB and the coverage. It gives the impression of being bad at running your route, but I say he's more perceptive of what's going on than many of the other WRs in the draft.

I agree...the only issue I had watching film (and I really did watch a ton) was his physicality that can hinder some WRs in the League getting off and not getting PI penalties called
His QBs erratic scrambling makes it very hard to really tell his route experience and knowledge but it is a plus for him that he hasn't played football very long (thought in HS he would be able to play basketball) it helps a lot as well having Vincent Jackson to teach him
And I believe that is also why Licht and Tedford also loved and took ASJ in the 2nd and not Ebron with a trade down in the 1st because he has a similar skill set but he is a much more polished route runner and finisher (best route runner I've seen at TE in the last couple drafts, maybe since Jimmy Graham) and like Graham he played bball his 1st 2 years at Washington, but he is a TE who doesn't need too much coaching from vets on the team.
I'm just glad as hell Mike Evans was still there at 7

Evans is scary good at that size and strength

He's probably one of the 5 worst route runners in the draft. He is perceptive and physical, but he's going to need some polishing before he gets it going in the league. I will give him this, he is good about finding spots in the zone and sitting.
This is not an AJ Green type of NFL ready receiver. He's just big and has good straight line speed. He will have his moments, but won't be a consistent threat yet.

Byrd would have picked that shite off

I think Evans is very overrated. He was only good against teams like Sam Houston State and Rice.

The best WR in this draft is pictured right over there
