The Saints sign a defensive lineman with a Brandon Staley connection after NFL draft

The Saints announced Monday that they've signed defensive end Chris Rumph II to a one-year contract. Rumph, a 2021 fourth-round pick, spent his first four seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, meaning he'll unite with defensive coordinator Brandon Staley in New Orleans.
In three seasons, Rumph appeared in 37 games as a rotational pass rusher and has three career sacks. He has also dealt with injuries. His 2023 campaign was cut short when he suffered a season-ending foot fracture in November. He also missed all of last year when he was placed on injured reserve in August.

2 year part timer, last year and a half, injured, coach knows him well and cheap. That's a good combo this time of year for anyone.
