Players out for the year should count less towards the cap.

Even a 25% reduction in cap usage would help. The better run league NBA has injury relief. The NFL should as well.

Even if the money was only usable next year it would help.
Thomas, Peat, and Winston add up to some major cap usage.

Do you even NBA bro?…..

At least there is a mostly hard cap in thw NFL when you have to make hard decisions and draft picks matter more.

The NBA is not what I want the NFL to become... Saints could use some cap space though.

oh hell no---The NBA cap is nowhere near as good as the NFL.

The NBA takes the cake for the worst contracts in sports history.

I agree. Its like the NCAA scholarship limit counts when a players leaves and you did't get the spot back. Until now.

I guess they would be afraid that teams may make a player sit out if they think they could swing a certain trade or FA pickup. Probably not tho. Forward thinking isn't really an NFL issue.

I told my wife something similar yesterday.

Thomas gets paid for the whole year and has contributed nothing to the 2021 season. His full cap prevents us from trading for another player to help.

Teams and players would be abusing that system if it were implemented.

Maybe a better system would be that they can defer cap for a free agent replacement player at the same position for an injured player that played x% of plays during regular season games.
