I'm amazed at how fricking stupid this board can be.

Jesus H. Christ.

How can yall not understand that going from Sean Payton to Carmichael calling our plays is like going from Drew Brees to Chase Daniels as our quarterback?

Playcalling is as important as any aspect as anything else in the NFL.

But he called all the plays against the Colts and we scored 62 points.

Pretty sure it's difficult to execute plays when Brees is running for his life all game

I think we understand that.

What I don't get is how you think it's more appropriate for him to be on the field. Not only that, but say he could sit in a fricking wheelchair 5 yards back for a "clear view" with fricking lineman surrounding him. Did you even think before you said that? you want 3-4 6'3+, 320+ lb men standing in front of him and hope for a clear fricking view?

Carmichael has shadowed Payton for 6 years. And before that he was in San Diego with Brees. We put up 62 points last week with him calling the plays. He has had a chance to leave NOLA for another job, and didn't go. shite, maybe it was time for Payton to see what he can do. He's been a damn puppet the last 3 years by holding the OC title and not doing a thing.

. How can you not see where Payton wouldn't have a problem letting him call the plays? He has trust and loyalty in his assistants. Id assume Carmichael has been around Payton and Brees enough over the last 8 years or so to know our team's tendencies.

Things may change next week, that is just Payton's nature. Maybe he had too much trust, who knows. But at least he had reason too.

Its not like Whistle Monster and that tool that dresses as a transformer were calling plays and coaching the team on the sidleine. shite dude.

The INTs arose from desperation caused by a deficit caused by horrendous playcalling in the first 4 offensive series.
I'm hardly going to call out the playcallers here. This is a team that routinely puts up a shite ton of points and just came off a 62 point game. For those of you that are surprised that this was a let down game should be ashamed. Is it disappointing? Yes. But when the game started out like it did I just said well, here's the Bronws game all over again.

If this is true THEN he should be on the field in a wheelchair safely near the bench with backups surrounding him in case a player crashes into the sidelines.

Our starters can't block on the field, you expect our backups to protect SP!!

If SP's in a wheelchair, he's likely going to be staring at the asses of said linemen. He won't have a clear view of the field.

Yea but its just easier for people to believe its the coaches fault and not the players.

He can be BEHIND the fricking metal bench if need be.

So you think that being BEHIND the bench WHERE HE CANT SEE A THING ON THE FIELD is going to help him call plays??? For him to successfully call the plays, he needs to see what is going on. He cant do that from behind the bench.

He was probably just letting the coach get his audition out there for a head coaching job.

Was a bad loss coming off a big win. Thing is, last week no one was talking this shite. A bad game later and it's like a mob of fricking idiots have gathered. Probably will come out and blow Tampa away.

I was thinking the same thing: why can't he make calls from upstairs? Plenty of OC's do!

Then I thought of something. And this is PURE speculation, but the guy might be drugged up on pain-killers. I've heard several times that this injury has been extremely painful for him. And we all know about the "Vicodin Scandal".

I don't know if it's an excuse but it could be a possible explanation for not play-calling.

I actually agree with this. Completely. Payton not calling the plays is ridiculous.

The coach being on the sidelines arguement that dip sh@t in houston is trying to make is laughable at best.

But I also thought Payton should have hobbled down at half, chewed some arse then hobbled back up.

We will come out strong vs the bucs whoever and from where ever the plays are called.

While I agree with parts of that....there are definitely OCs who work in the booth in the NFL so it is a little strange that the Saints wouldn't at least give this a try in the interim....

as far as PC calling the plays...I dont think it is the worst solution BUT we did only have 9 rushing attempts against the Rams. 9. one of the worst run defenses in the league......
