We knew we were in the good ol’ days even as they were happening, and we still didn’t appreciate it enough.

There are countless fans of numerous NFL franchises who have lived and will live their entire lives, watching every Sunday with their children and even bouncing their grandchildren on their laps in their later years in front of the television, who will never watch a better quarterback than the one we had.

It’s a special thing.

You’ll grow up one day and realize how bassackwards your priorities were in moments like these. I hope it’s sooner rather than later.

I’ve found myself watching Drew / Saints highlights all weekend. I was starting to forget how much fun it was walking in the dome every Sunday knowing you could win every single game just because Drew was your QB.

No matter how much credit, awards, and ceremonies he gets it will never fully be enough for what he’s done for this city / franchise.

This is how you know a QB is truly great. I remember so many times as a Saints fan feeling like the game was lost. Decades of losing a lead with two minutes left and knowing we just could not come back to win.

That ended with Drew Brees. As long as he was in the field and we were down by one score… we could… and likely would… win.

If anything it shows how quickly time moves. Moves even quicker when the times are good.

Still remember when we signed him (I wanted to draft Matt Leinart ) and then when we extended him to an “all time high” $10M a year contract.

I was in Canton a few weeks ago and got to see all his stuff on display. It was a nice trip down memory lane.
