I like this new development here. Before LSU fans were butt hurt we didn’t select LSU players

Now it’s threads whining about not selecting guys who dog walked LSU - Achane, Hooker, Hyatt etc. There will be Stetson Bennett threads popping up here soon

I had him rated higher than Miller.

Can you please post your full rankings and analysis? We need it to grade the saints drafts accordingly.

Some old numbers but still probably close.

Based on the numbers provided by Draftmetrics, 71.8 percent of players drafted in Rounds 1, 2 and 3 are retained by the team that drafted them.

Only 28.2 percent of players drafted in Rounds 4, 5, 6 and 7 were retained at the end of their first contract—which is a number that is largely supported by an abundance of fourth-round picks re-upping. Rounds 5, 6 and 7 made up 16.7 percent of the 28.2 percent total.

Seems some go to a draft combine site and pick the next "star."

Great call. A lot of posters on here live in an LSU bubble and base all of their opinions on that

Miller is pretty damn good.

You have to take into account systems and what will be asked of that player.

They have so much more info than we do.

Maybe not melting but you could still be mad at your team for making a dumb pick with a better player on the board.

Just think about all the 5-7 rounders that turned out to be great players with the saints.

Didn't Miller have the largest YPC in D1 last year?

Yeah but almost none of those late round gems were players the average fan wanted. Nobody knows at that point who is a better player not even the scouts. At that point it’s about identifying something you like about a player and hoping it works out

Size isn’t always better. And I’m no draft expert but rather my opinion. I’m hopeful Miller is better and like the pick.

Just saw more in Devon Achane for the reasons I mentioned: Versatility.

Here's something to consider:

Miller
quote:

His restricted stride length provides greater control to cut early in the run, but it works against him when he needs to hit the gas and stride past linebackers

Achane
quote:

He has the creativity and burst to create chunk plays but durability concerns will likely limit the amount of carries a team is willing to give him

Sounds like more of a focus on getting 4 yds on the carry, instead of maybe breaking one occasionally.

Apparently the guy who knows what the frick he’s talking about.

Thought this would be a good thread to bump since it was filled with downvotes and people calling me and the OP out and Achane has scored what, 3x as many touchdowns as the entire saints offense playing in basically 3 games. Quite embarrassing.

Looking like another screwup in the draft by the front office so far.

Tons of crow to eat so far in this thread, by plenty of major posters….
