The answer to our coaching situation isn’t on staff

Last week was great but there’s no consistency of play. Sadly we are just going to have one of those 3 year suffering periods until we are out of cap hell and have draft picks with a new coach to hope for a rebirth. This team is handcuffed with the main guys it has for the next 2 years no matter what. After that the healing can begin. Getting out of Thomas and Peat’s contacts alone will be huge. I hope we win tonight but it won’t change my thoughts on our head coach. A swift decision needs to be made at year’s end and go in another direction.

You’re looking at a 2-3 year rebuild. Assuming you have the right decision makers in place

And the part that hurts the most is in order to field a team for the next 2-3 years they need to continue playing the push the salary cap down the road game.

Not completely. If they commit to a rebuild we just eat alot of that money and finally take our losses. Probably a multi year rebuild to potentially set you up for another run.

Get the right GM in here and it'll take a few years to build a team to go deep in the Playoffs.
This current version of the Saints isn't going to win a damn thing.

I don’t see it. They’re pushing $60M over next year w under 40 players. So they need to find $60M and still be able to sign 13 players to active roster and another 8 to PS. So probably looking at needing to clear $100M next year when cap is ~$225M. Only way to do that is push shite to next year, then repeat while signing cheap players to low contracts and hoping to hit home runs in the draft. Only way to do that is extend contracts like MT to put the salary to bonus and spread over 5 more years

They will kick a few contracts down the road again just to field a team but they have to get themselves out of the hell by paying up and taking your lumps. Then you hope you have the right guy running the ship that knows how to draft. This isn’t working ever though, that’s so very clear now.

Entire fan base can probably deal w another 2-3 years if that’s what they’re doing; it knowing Loomis he’s going to try to bring in other big FAs to “compete for the playoffs”

That’s over with. Until you have a QB you aren’t competing for shite. And I actually think Dalton has been good worth what he’s been given but he’s at the end of his career.
