Why so many incompletions?
Haener being a rookie throwing to scrubs. Dude isn’t ready to play yet. Winston is definitely the clear cut QB2.

Thanks to the HOU DL who pushed the WR forward for the 1st down on the 3rd down play

Scary Gatorade tackle attempt.

Kidd has no business playing LT in this league.

Haener showing a little lack of arm strength throwing on the run. Didn’t look great on that 4th down play where he kept it either. I’m not down on him at all, just realizing that his game is not gonna be running around ad-libbing when plays break down. He’s gonna have to be like Brees with pre-snap reads, anticipation, precision passing, knowing exactly where his receivers are gonna be, having almost a 6th sense feeling pressure and intuitively knowing when to step up in the pocket, etc….
I’m certainly not saying he’ll ever be close to Brees, but I think the kind of game he plays takes time to develop. Everything I’ve heard about him makes me think he’ll develop that and reach his ceiling, whatever that may be. I hope he gets there soon. But I think he’d get eaten alive right now in a real NFL game against real NFL players. Unfortunately, I think Jameis is clearly our #2. And the 2s barely get any work in a regular season game week practice. The 3s get pretty much zero, so I don’t known if Haener will even have the opportunity to really develop in-season barring injury. Might be next year before he has a legit shot to win the backup job and allow us to be done with Jameis.
Nice little run there, though.
