Had a similar injury. A tear doesn't need surgery but you can't bend it and it has to be in a cast that keeps it straight, a full tear and it's surgery.
At best 4-6 weeks to heal for a tear.

If so shut him down and let him heal for next year. Don't need to make things worse or have a set back.

Say what you will about Taysom Hill, but no one can question his toughness. Played with a half-torn plantar fascia in his foot and what looks to be a torn tendon in the middle finger of his passing hand and still put up 365 yards total offense (264 passing, 101 rushing).

Taysom is literally playing golf right now at BRCC, my buddies are a couple groups behind him. So he must not be that hurt.

Saints’ doctors determined that QB Taysom Hill suffered a mallet finger injury Thursday, but it will not require surgery considering it is not as extensive as the one Russell Wilson suffered earlier this year, per source. Hill now will try to play through the injury.
