Per John Hendrix

Expected to miss the start of the season. Bummer, solid player.

We'll see if Foskey and Turner can do something with the extra reps.

Apparently he tore it earlier in the offseason

Most likely a season ending injury. Depends how long ago he had the surgery. He’s been a great rotational player for the money we pay him.

sucks to lose him as he is a solid player, but rotational DE is a dime a dozen. his spot will be replaced before the start of the season.

That sucks! He was playing better than Cam last year and was probably our second best DE. Sucks!!!

Probably not. These Achilles injuries heal up a lot faster these days. If he tore it in January or February, he might be back for October.

Cutting him does save $2 million in cap space. I don’t think the saints want to do that though, it’s a bad look. We’re not talking big money here.

Yeah, I hope he had surgery as soon as it happened. $2 million is not that much. And he seemed to be the only backup to Cam on the left side. All the rest seemed to be more comfortable on the right side. And he's like 6'7" and can get his arms up to block kicks.

These injuries are never "good," but a silver lining could be to get the other guys more reps and looks in the offseason the they may not have gotten. They will either develop or we'll finally know what they have in them. Again, sucks, but there could be some positives that come out of it. He doesn't need OTAs or camp, we know what we have in him. Jury still out on Turner, Foskey, and Young.

And you're right, cutting him would be a bad look, especially to only save $2 million. But it's also a bad financial move if he can come back mid-season and give you something.

They sound like they expect him back during the season. Dude isn't a QB I can't imagine he would be ready anytime during the season.
