The presentation and speech are worth a watch.

Steve is a man who needs a New Orleans street named after him. But we don’t have time for that because we still have pastors to take care of first.

Obviously he’s beat the odds to live as long as he has.
With the eye issues I wonder how much longer he can truly go and still have any quality of life.

This cannot be stated enough! My wife is going through chemo & we are FORTUNATE it's "only" stage 1 yet it still takes its toll on her obviously but also the role of caretaker spouse. It's a lot of shite sometimes man from infusions and recoveries from procedures, yet I know my little bit of stress and added "inconveniences" are but a fraction compared to what Michelle has faced.
I cannot imagine what what Michelle has gone through, and for so long. Sure its what we all sign up for "in sickness and in health" but she definitely has earned spot in heaven. I'm sure she would not hesitate to do it all again if need be, and I don't mean to sound crude but you know it has got to be a burden at times. Thankfully through the Saints and Gleason's notoriety they have some orchestrated services and funds to help Michelle take care of Steve. Also its amazing what both of them have done for many regular people in the same situation that otherwise would not have been able to afford that help if it weren't for Steve being such a badass person and taking this head on and bringing this terrible disease to more light in the public eye.

My man, you have the fullest amount of respect this random person can offer you for staying by your wife's side. People good around the term "real man" for trivial shite, but this is the truest definition of it.
My wife has a high risk of dementia and cancer, but if she ever got sick i would never leave her side.
I truly, and genuinely hope your wife beats that and you guys have an eternity together. All the very best

What's the deal with his eyes?

quote:You dont sound crude, ALS is a burden and it takes everything out of the family and people caring for the person. I know my dad had ALS, and my sister and I were his primary care takers for 3 years. We did everything from dress him, feed him, shower him, wipe him after the bathroom, move him in the bed so he didnt get bed sores—you name it, we did it. They say ALS is a family disease, and I can tell you 100% it is. from personal experience, there were times my dad begged me to end it for him but, in the end, we got throught it with the help on others. For me, I wouldn't wish ALS on my worst enemy.
