Looks like their LBer talent "evaluations" have been better since then. They did recently draft Pete Wenrer & Zach Baun , Ellis , Anzalone

That’s part of the point, even when we stumble into a gem we can’t develop the player and the productive player always wants to leave the Saints.

Something is toxic on Airline Dr.

Kikaha was on his way to being a decent player until his injury.
But he came out of college with a lengthy injury history and a fear of a short career as a result.

I want to be optimistic and blame this on DA. He came back to the Saints as a defensive assistant in 2015. Saints LBer drafted since then:
2015: Anthony (1), Kikaha (2), Tull (5)
2017: Anzalone (3), Hendrickson-listed as LB (3)
2019: Elliss: (7)
2020: Baun (3)
2021: Werner (2)
2022: Jackson (5)
2024: Ford (5)

IMO, the trend says they are no longer "stumbling into a gem", the issue appears that once the LBer is here they are either put in the wrong position or not developed properly. I am hopeful that points to DA and if we are able to keep finding LBers that Staley will have better success with them.

Wrong Adrian! That was McPherson that got taken out in Tennessee by the golf cart. This was after the game that he lined up under guard.

My memory is that Kikaha was working under recently retired Scott Shanley or another recent retired player and they vouched for Kikaha and talked the saints into drafting him. It sounded like the saints were doing a favor and it seems like every draft has some player picked as a favor to someone connected to the saints or in the league.

I would like to know who is the person in the org that gets a say in drafting the QBs. They have picked 6 QBs since 2010 with usually a 3rd to 5th pick and it's always some unknown. I thought it was Payton, but its been continuing since he left.

Fun fact, saints have used two first round picks on QBs in team history. Manning and then his projected successor ... "Davey" Wilson.

If the Saints are capable of bring “talked into drafting someone as a favor with a 2nd rounder” like Kikaha, matters are far worse than I suspected.

What a shitshow. Gayle sell the team.
