Spikes on the Superdome roof?

Ever since they re-branded it the Caesars dome, there’s been a sort of grid pattern of spikes installed on the roof. Anyone know the purpose of that? I’ve been wondering for a few months now

Haven't driven into the city in awhile, but from what you are saying my first thought is maybe updated the roof for safety purposes for when they do their 1-2 cleanings a year?

Like pigeon spikes or something involving the logo? I haven’t noticed what you are talking about

It’s not lights. They’re spaced out like maybe four or five rows going up all the way to the top. Yeah the only thing I could think is that it had something to do with cleaning maybe. I’ll see if I can grab a pic

Probably lightning protection.

They’ve been there for awhile. I worked with a graphics company when Mercedes got the rights and we went up there and gave them an estimate for painting the symbol on the top. They’re spaced all around the dome for harnesses to be tethered to in case a slip or fall happens.

This. We had a crew out there yesterday fixing the grounding. There’s a lot of points up there.

Looking back at pics now, It appears they've been around for a while. I guess they just stand out now more for some reason.

Anchors or our lightning rods? Please don’t try to tether to our lightning rods

I would not like to work up there.

It’s to keep the homeless from establishing residence up there

How many new bullet holes did they find up there?

This was a decade ago, but there were all white rods to anchor to and I just assumed they weren’t lightning rods.
