Still need the league to let Gruden coach again. If it’s an internal hire, it’ll be Maronne

Why fire DA now and not at end of the season especially how the final snap went down?

Maybe player exit interviews went really terribly? One of the only reasons I could think of

We already know they went terribly. Its been leaked and talked about.

Loomis's response was that the players who aren't on board will need to go

Aaron Glenn
Mike Vrabel
Hell throw Pete Carroll in there.

Certainly interesting.

There is nothing the NFL can legally do to stop the Saints from hiring Gruden. Now, would some calls start going against us again? Sure.

What is your source? Don’t get my hopes up like this if it’s not true! If you’re f’n with us, knuckles will be checked at the Carencro Sonic for sure.

But I want to believe!!!!

Please please please let this be true.

#1, I don't think there's any chance that Allen is fired.

#2, I'd take Vrabel right now without thinking twice

Hurricane in the Duncan thread is saying Carmichael is out and they will likely move Curry to OC (something I have been saying).

Hurricane has had legit insider stuff in the past about the Pels, mostly on minor stuff but he has had it.

So that is interesting

Could coach for 20 more years.

I am all in for this dude as well.

I've replied this in other threads as well.

In the 2 years Allen has been HC of the Saints he went 7-10 & 9-8 for 16-18 overall, missing the playoffs both seasons

Vrabel in the same 2 year span has gone 7-10 & 6-11 for 13-21 overall, missing the playoffs both seasons

I like Vrabel but so many people on this board are way too emotional and don't use much logic & reason, and this is another example. Vrabel is a good coach, but what has he done lately to suggest that he would come to the Saints with this current roster and current cap situation and make us any better? No doubt Vrabel's players seem to love him and play their butts off for him, but OC is the biggest problem and Vrabel alone cannot fix that. Who is the OC???

Our Offense is the problem, mainly OC/playcaller (not what Vrabel is known for), so whether its Allen or Vrabel both would have to get a new one to fix it. Now if Allen tells Mickey he wants Carmichael at OC again then Mickey should fire him right there

Vrabel's HC record, much better than Allen's overall but on a 2 year slide while Allen has improved last 2 years. Saints have had better talent on paper, but are also in a bad cap spot, again, and do not have Derrick Henry or a good run blocking o-line which is the only offense Vrabel's teams have ever ran
Darn good coaching job getting to the playoffs multiple times, but his only playoff wins were by GREAT individual performances by Derrick Henry
2018= 9-7, missed playoffs
2019= 9-7, made playoffs and upset Patriots in wild card round behind 204 yards by Henry and then upset the Ravens behind 202 yards by Henry before losing AFC championship to Chiefs....Darn good coaching for what he had to work with, but also the offense was built in a once in a generation HOF RB
2020= 11-5, made playoffs and lost to Ravens in wild card
2021= 12-5, made playoffs had 1st rd bye then lost to Bengals
2022= 7-10 missed playoffs
2023= 6-11 missed playoffs

If the move is Pete to curry, I really question why the move wasn't made in-season to get a trial run of curry

Vrabel isn’t the home run hire, but I’d take him over Allen.

I don’t see them going from a defensive coach to another defensive coach unless it’s Belichick, or Pete Carroll or somebody like that.

Unfortunately, I don’t think Allen is going anywhere regardless.

It seems loyalty and nostalgia are more important to Loomis than being successful.

Loomis believes in patience to a fault.

He "allowed" Payton to have 2 7-9 seasons before the SB run. We had some bad years under payton with horrific Ds and he stuck with it.

That's just what he believes in.

Its just that Dennis Allen isn't Sean Payton

Pete was the Allen scapegoat. If he replaced him midseason, there wouldn’t be “big changes” he could make to give himself another year.

Good god this FO is such a mom and pop organization.

If DA had replaced Pete midyear, and the offense was still bad, then DA might have got the chop.

By waiting until after the season he buys himself at least another year.

He’s the exact same age as CSP to be fair. Not arguing with you about him being maybe outdated but he isn’t THAT old.
