If you wanna know the real, best numbers to rate a QB on, there's 3:

TD%
INT%
Yards per attempt

Phillip Rivers beat Peyton Manning in all three of those categories in 2008, but Peyton Manning still won the MVP soley because his team had the most wins.

Don't randomly make-up the criteria for winning MVP out of convenience when Brees clearly out-played Rodgers this year & every other QB in the history of the NFL.

The NFL MVP is as fricked up as the Heisman used to be recently.

Yards per catch means jack shite
LOL, wow.

And it's not yards per catch, by the way.

since players getting yards after the catch is factored into it and offensive scheme as well

Yea, you're right, Rodgers' and Brees' passes have nothing to do with the YAC their WRs get.

I would take drew brees over rodgers every fricking day of the week
Super unbiased viewpoint.

And YPA is a much more important stat, just think about it.

You gain a full yard more every time you throw the ball. That's it, it doesn't need further explanation.

You're missing the point. The 2011 Saints had the most offensive yards in NFL history. Normally, I'd say you're absolutely right. I would take that extra yard every attempt. But when you're comparing that to a team that still gained more yards passing despite a lower YPA, it's not the most solid argument for the overall season.

Right, and I'll disagree with that every time.

EVERYONE has different criteria. It's MY thought on who deserves, I'll use whatever the hell stats I want, but thanks for trying to impose what YOu think is right upon me LOL.

Brees clearly out-played Rodgers this year
Except this is simply not true.

You don't understand the concept of "clearly". If it was clearly, then close to 100% of people would say Brees had a better year without hesitation, no? There's a reason why, if you take saints/Packers fans out of it, over 50% will say Rodgers was better. you can make up all the excuses as to why that is, but to say "clearly" is 100% false.

Take the historic context into account here. Which season will be talked about more in the context of NFL history? That goes to Brees.

No, i'm arguing that it is my opinion that Rodgers was better.

I never said he was clearly better. Again, if it's up for debate and it CLEARLY is, then it's not "clearly"

On the other hand, Brees has had one of the best seasons by a QB in NFL history. His historic 2011 season will be talked about for years to come. No way is Rodgers more deserving than Brees.

no it won't be, because besides on the broadcasts of saints games, his season isn't really talked about

I clearly see you love Rodgers' cock. That's all I clearly see because "your criteria" for why Brees shouldn't be MVP has been demolished. But continue on.

what a dumb fricking argument..

You wouldnt take a QB that threw for even 4 yards every pass but nobody can stop? NEWS FLASH you will score more points and always have more yards.

Saints finished with a 1k yards more offense.. Yea who would want that.

Right now? I'd say you're right. It's almost criminal that Brees had one of the best seasons a QB has had in NFL history and did not get more attention than he has gotten. However, I still think history will be more kind once Brees is eligible for the Hall of Fame.

Another MORE important stat:

NFL 3rd down completion %

NO 56.28

GB 48.3

Thats a HUGE difference and directly leads to Brees having more offensive plays. Many coaches would tell you that it one of the most important stats in the entire game.

This is why I hate these boards, I can't stand arguing with people who are mental midgets and have the maturity of 13 year olds and fricking cry about it when someone disagrees with them.

Man the frick up buddy.

My criteria has been demolished by who? You're a pretty funny dude.

We are arguing who WE think should win MVP, right? So I'll use whatever the frick criteria I want. And teh funny thing is you just think i'm picking and choosing numbers to go against Brees and for Rodgers, but you're wayyyyyyyy too biased to realize I use these numbers every single year as my criteria. If you had any ability to step back and view things unbiasedly, you may have noticed that. But you CLEARLY don't have that ability.

But continue on with your little girly insults.

It's funny that the third down conversion rate by the Saints isn't mentioned so much in the media.

I know, I ALWAYS want the QB who throws for LESS yards per attempt. That is clearly the better way to do things.

quote:

Saints finished with a 1k yards more offense

I'm pretty sure both offenses finished with the same amount of TDs, or within 1 or 2 of each other. So that's a lot of extra yards that didn't amount to extra scores, no?

See, THAT is a great argument.

That's good stuff.

Unlike others around here, I can concede that and realize it's shite like that I may not have factored in,b ut that is super important.

But I still got Rodgers.

Yet all the offensive records Brees broke this season are not good arguments? I don't want to seem like I'm putting words in your mouth, so I just want to know you're opinion on that.

First there is no argument, because that requires two people to have one and you don't have one.

Second, you can continue to use "whatever the frick criteria you want". Please do. It makes you look like more of an arse because it has already been shot down with facts.

Now continue on. But be clearer. It's hard to make sense of what you are saying with Rodgers cock in your mouth.
