Gotta assume Davenport and peat will be gone to make room. I think they get Thomas back.

Peat isn’t gone lmao. Contract isn’t a viable cut and we’d have no money to replace him. In fact they could instead choose to restructure him and save us more cap this year.
Davenport is a FA and wasn’t staying anyway
The team can restructure Lattimore and be under the cap today. Jameis will certainly be cut, but that will provide minimal relief. I agree about Thomas.

With a Restructure of Cam and Marshon, cutting Peat and Winston gives us 26 mil in cap space. If we restructure Kamara we get up to 34 million.
Honestly if we can get Carr for 25 mil a year, we can focus on a great draft and probably 2/3-peat the NFC South. And next year we should be sitting around $0 in cap space, so no real hole to dig out of.

Does Dalton stay as a backup QB for $2M?

Dav was going to be gone regardless, He'll get a bigger paycheck that the Saints could or would have paid for him.
Peat can still be restructured and IMO Thomas will now be willing to rework his deal to stay and not be a cap problem.

Someone in another thread educated me on the post-6/01 cut for Peat. Not sure which is right, but their explanation makes since.
Basically, cutting Peat now saves approximately $1.4M against the cap. If they designate him as a post 6/01 cut, then his cap savings still stays at the approx $1.4M until 6/01. Then it automatically reverts as if he was cut that day and the team saves the additional $10.5M. This would allow them to sign their rookie contracts and grab any post draft FAs.

Gonna be so funny when he sucks arse for 2 years then gets cut. Saints should have bit the bullet and drafted a QB to start their rebuild now.
Oh well. 2 more years of mediocrity wont hurt, i suppose

Cutting or trading Peat post 6/1 saves $11,825,000. Cutting or trading Jameis post 6/1 saves another $12,800,000. Those two cuts put us under the cap by $6,450,682 before you factor Carr or anyone else in.
Trade Kamara post 6/1 adds another $10,941,176. Cut him gets us $9,941,176, 1 million less.
