Why do some act shocked or outraged? Loomis tried to keep the band together and they have been booed off the stage. Broke too. DA is dead man walking. So yes we will lose bidding wars and our org. is on the decline for now which further limits getting some FAs.

That's fine, but the real comparison is the rest of their team with these guys to our roster with the guys you prefer.

If they can get these two guys their way, way ahead of us. We're likely to be closer to Carolina then we will be at Atlanta

Falcons - give up a third round pick for a 32 year old player without a contract in place (See Jets) - durrr Mickey is sooo stupid!

Saints - sign Chase fugging 25 year old Young to a non-guaranteed contract - Mickey sucks!

The only thing that would put them in that range is Cousins being out and Penix being completely unable to play QB

Two words:

Raheem. Morris.

Again, it's putting those guys on the respective rosters.

Like I said in the other thread, ATL did the "sign the vet QB" strategy well. We did it very poorly.

Time to bend over, take the enema, and flush all the crap out--players, coaches, FO, even janitors and clerical if need be.

RESET TIME!

Makes sense. They’re an ascending roster at the moment and we’re kinda stagnant until we get Allen out.

i'm ok with being shrewd with our cap space for next 2 yrs still.

Absolutely. We’re gonna bottom out record wise, may as well clear the books as well.

Probably. But at least they have shown SOME degree of restraint over the last few months. The Saints didn't sign any wildly expensive FA's with backloaded deals that continue to ensure they'll be significantly over the cap in the future. They didn't piss all over themselves in the draft by giving away future draft picks to trade up and take some previously unheralded Senior Bowl "star".

Simmons clearly had salary demand that exceeded what the market thought he was worth. Otherwise, he would have been signed well prior to 3 weeks before the start of the season. Atlanta had money to spend and they (presumably) gave him his highest and best offer. I applaud the FO for not falling into their usual temptation of signing a FA they can't afford on the "credit card".

The Saints weren't a Super Bowl contender with or without Simmons. You hate to see your division rival sign him because it may make it more likely they win the division. But the Saints should have a much longer term vision than one 30+ year old safety for essentially one season.

You really think a coach with a career record of 21-38 is going to have this falcons team "way way ahead of us"

I think the falcons have a lot of talent and a lot of issues. Raheem Morris is a cheap hire and a stop gap at best. He won't get the best from this group that's for sure.

Most of that was a LONG time ago when he was hired too young.

He's worked under a ton of successful coaches since then, namely McVay. McVay shits out HCs without experience.

And he brought along the hottest OC candidate on the market with him. We didn't hire as good of an OC candidate and we hired from within the same tree.

Yes, I do think a 21-38 coach can have a team outperform out 24–46
coached team

That’s Su’a Cravens he played safety at USC and in the NFL. He’s probably a reliable source

While I am predicting the Div winner in Atlanta they are not anything yet. Have done nothing yet. New HC that needs to prove he can win. A new OC and system. A new QB that needs to show he is back and can be successful in the new offense.
Kirk is on his third team. I believe their strength is in that oline and Bijan but it's a long season. Oh and screw the birds in their butthole stadium!

Dennis worked under Sean, why doesn't he get the same credit in your eyes? Dan Campbell ringing any bells?

Not true. However, I think it is time to move Mickey up to some BS position and get new blood in at GM to start reworking his years of financial mistakes.

That's 1 guy, who wasn't even a coordinator. Want to compare that to the coordinators and head coaches who worked under McVay?

McVay:

Head coaches: Zac Taylor, Matt Lafleur, Kevin O'Connell, Morris
Coordinators: Shane Waldron, Ejiro Evero, Wes Phillips, Zac Robinson

Payton:

Head coaches: Dan Campbell, Dennis Allen
Coordinators: Joe Lombardi (under Payton)

This is also ignoring that we all know Dennis Allen is mediocre at best as a HC in his 2nd chance.

This is where I’m at. Allen is a dead man walking. Don’t sign any high dollar free agents and clean up the cap space.

Set yourself up for the future.
