It’s not official if it will be next season but it’s 100% happening 2021 and beyond

It more than canceling Bacchus. It’s about hotel rooms . No way there would be enough hotel rooms for Super Bowl guests and Marci Gras weekend guest!

It would be pushed back 2 weeks (unless the season starts earlier). They are also adding an extra bye week
They’re reducing preseason to 3 games in exchange for the extra regular season game. Preseason would start at the same time as usual, but the regular season would start on what used to be week 4 of the preseason

Postponing the superbowl in New orleans because of a Mardi gras parade is the dumbest thing I have heard in a looooong time.

It's more than the parade though. It's the city's ability to support another major event the weekend before Mardi Gras

I used to ride in Bacchus(
I’ll put in a word to them to bite the bullet and postpone) I’m sure they’ll give me their fullest attention.

This is a far cry from what you said in the original post, and you only bring it up now because someone else said it.

All sounds like BS to me, and there is way more than enough time to adjust the Mardi Gras schedule accordingly.

I don't understand why y'all don't get that it can't be done the same weekend as MG.

And even if it WERE possible, why would the city want to? The city is already packed the weekend of Mardi Gras. There's diminishing returns on taxes for the city and profits for the tourism industry.

They've done it before. They just delayed Mardi Gras a week.

NO THEY DID NOT!

The Super Bowl fell on the 1st weekend of MG so they moved those parades up a week, had the game the second week and then the big weekend and fat Tuesday where on the regularly scheduled dates.

Same difference. Point being they didn't postpone having the SB for Mardi Gras.

Not to mention the NFL doesn’t operate that way.
