The # 43 pick just signed with 87% of the contract money guaranteed, so I'd assume we'll see Shough sign soon for somewhere between 90% to fully guaranteed.

He’s not deemed a starter so demand for starter money is ridiculous. Send him packing and sigh Jeff Driskel from SF.

OMG. If you don't know that the salary of drafted players in the NFL is based where they are drafted, and not their position (or leverage, or anything else), then you're not qualified to post on this board. You should delete your account.

Teams are starting to sign 2nd Rounders, dominoes are falling. Not all are getting fully guaranteed

Pick 41 (1 after Shough) just signed for 95% guaranteed. Pretty clear we’ll be giving him 100% guaranteed, four years at about $2.7mil per year

And Mason Taylor at 42 (2 picks after) just agreed to 60% of his 4th year being fully guaranteed (1st 3 years were already the precedent).

I doubt we see pick 36 get done right now as Clev is probably trying to avoid any guarantees on a guy recently arrested for DV.

The question now is do the Saints and Shough's team wait for 37-39 to sign, or do they realize 41 is at 95%; so is 5% worth haggling over for a guy you expect to contend for your starting QB and at worst could be your backup QB for the next 4+ years.

Interesting dates to watch.
Pick 37: Jonah Savaoomeae & Miami - rookie camp (7/15), vets (7/22)
Pick 38: TreVeyon Henderson & NE - rookie camp (7/19), vets (7/22)
Pick 39: Luther Burden III & Chicago - rookie camp (7/19), vets (7/22)
Pick 40: Saints - rookie & vets camp (7/22)

Based on these dates, I don't expect to see Shough signed before 7/21 unless Burden & Chicago get something done this weekend

Loomis will not want to give a fully guaranteed deal. That is 100% not his style at all.

Looks like it's happening on a sliding scale. Didn't think it would happen but 36 and 42 are signed now with guaranteed monies.
Oh well. Seems it's a thing now.

Everyone around him is getting 80-95% and his position is the highest paid position in the NFL. This would be a no brainer at this point.

If he sucks then that $2.5mil in the 3 years is really going to cripple our salary cap and spending abilities. Yawn.

You can because the title of this thread isn’t true.

In a lot of ways, it was tracking this way. Just didn't expect it to jump so fast. Looking at last year's draft, all 2nd rounders had the first 2 years fully guaranteed. Appears picks 32-44 had first 3 years fully guaranteed.

Cooper DeJean (40th pick last year) had 12% of his 4th year guaranteed.
